Because of your support, we were able to purchase size 5 basketballs, and the impact has been immediate and powerful especially for our girls.\r\nBefore this project, many of our students were practicing and playing with basketballs that were too large and difficult to control. This created an unintended barrier, particularly for girls who were still developing strength, coordination, and confidence. With access to properly sized basketballs, our girls now have equitable equipment that meets their needs and allows them to fully participate.\r\nSince receiving the size 5 basketballs, we have seen a noticeable increase in confidence, skill development, and enthusiasm. Girls who were once hesitant to shoot, dribble, or join games are now actively participating, taking risks, and encouraging one another. They are practicing fundamentals correctly, building muscle memory, and most importantly feeling that they belong on the court.\r\nYour donation has done more than provide sports equipment. It has sent a powerful message to our students: that equity matters, that their needs are valued, and that they deserve the same opportunities to grow, lead, and succeed. These basketballs have helped level the playing field and empowered our girls to see themselves as capable athletes and confident teammates.\r\nThank you for investing in our students and for helping create an inclusive environment where all children can thrive. Your generosity is making a lasting difference in both skill development and self-belief.\r\nWith sincere gratitude,\r\nDeborah Robles","fullyFundedDate":1764687539248,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-girls-through-equitable-equi/9531060/","projectTitle":"Empowering Girls Through Equitable Equipment: Access to Size 5 Basketballs","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Robles","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2334715_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y77&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1720216343431","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/deborah-robles"},{"teacherId":2334715,"projectId":9150122,"letterContent":"Providing period products to female students in a discreet and respectful way has a powerful and far-reaching impact on both individual students and the overall classroom environment. When students know they have access to the products they need without embarrassment or shame, they feel seen, respected, and supported. This builds confidence in their bodies and helps eliminate the anxiety or fear that can come with managing their period at school.\r\nThe simple act of making these products available fosters a sense of dignity and normalcy. It allows students to stay engaged in learning without disruption, empowering them to focus on their education rather than worrying about leaks, discomfort, or social stigma. This contributes to a classroom culture of care, inclusion, and trust—where students feel safe, valued, and more likely to participate and thrive. With the addition of these new phonics and morphology resources, my students now have more diverse, engaging, and effective tools to help them build essential literacy skills. These materials have provided them with the opportunity to practice reading and writing in a more hands-on and interactive way. The impact on their ability to decode, comprehend texts, spell, and express ideas clearly in their writing has been evident, and we are so grateful for your support.\r\n\r\nIn particular, the educational games and whisper phones have been transformative contributions. When my students first saw the games and phones, they were so excited! And they were delighted when I said we'd be using them in our daily morning ELA block to practice our fluency and word-building skills after lessons. The games and phones have brought an element of fun and excitement into the classroom, motivating students to engage in learning while developing their language skills. Activities that once felt dry are now enjoyable learning challenges that spark healthy competition and collaboration among students. From phonics games to morphology-focused challenges, these resources have helped create a dynamic learning experience that appeals to various learning styles, making our ELA block more accessible and enjoyable for everyone. \r\n\r\nWe thank you so much!
