Students no longer have to ask me to borrow one of my 3 extra calculators I had. And more importantly, it's not a rush to see who can ask me first because there used to not be enough calculators for everyone. \r\n\r\nI put the calculators in an old phone pouch hanging on the wall and used numbered stickers on the front of the calculators to keep track of which ones are being used or which ones haven't been returned. I want to make sure the calculators last as long as possible and don't get lost or broken and the numbers help with that.\r\n\r\nMy chemistry class has been using them since they arrived because their work is much more math based than my Biology class. They did arrive just in time for my Biology class to use them in our populations unit. Usually this unit is such a struggle and we go so much slower because kids are either doing the addition and subtraction on paper by hand or waiting to use one of my limited calculators. This year, everyone who needed a calculator had one and it went smoothly. My students were able to get IMMEDIATE feedback on everything they were submitting... and it was also fun for many of them to see the creative projects printed right away.\r\n\r\nThe items that were the most impactful were:\r\n*Book Covers. Students found a picture online and pasted it to a GoogleDoc. Then they completed the questions on the inside packet (including a summary). I was able to print those and turn them into foldable \"Book Covers\" that would eventually be pinned to the wall. But first, I was able to physically write corrections on them (capitalization, punctuation, more deatail needed for the summaries), and they could immediately correct them, and then I'd re-print them. The students enjoyed being able to see their work rewarded on the walls quickly\r\n*Essay revisions. I was able to re-print IMMEDIATELY after students made corrections based on my comments. It kept them accountable in real-time, and they made HUGE gains in improving their essay-writing skills\r\n*When students didn't pass a reading test, I could immediately print up the sample questions for them to use to go back into the book and find the answers -- what a powerful tool for accountability, and for increasing the skill of revisiting the text!\r\n\r\nThere were so many other ways these printers helped ALL of my students every week throughout the years.
