My students are required to do independent reading throughout the school year. I would like to maintain an updated classroom library for them to utilize and your donation would help to make that possible. Reading encourages empathy and exposes students to new ideas, cultures, and worlds. My high school students are becoming adults, and before they graduate, I want to show them that reading can be enjoyable and beneficial, but we need an updated library in order to do this. Passing this lesson on is important to me, as I want to help them to be not only literate and critical, but also imaginative and empathetic, all of which are important in our society today.
