Now I am able to make copies of worksheets for students who misplaced work or forgot them at home. Being able to make a copy with our new printer saves my student from going across campus to ask the office to make a new copy to accommodate one or two students. this also means less instructional time wasted. \r\n\r\nThe color printer was also a helpful tool when my students were learning about Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama and needed to create block prints inspired by her work. After sketching their artwork onto a canvas, they were able to make a copy of their work which they later used to make a stencil for their block print.\r\n\r\nMy students and I are grateful for your support and believing in the work and learning that they are doing.","fullyFundedDate":1778270825816,"projectUrl":"project/ink-and-a-color-printer-for-our-classroo/10258842/","projectTitle":"Ink and a Color Printer for Our Classroom, Please","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Trochez MacLean","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2533484_orig.jpg?crop=1931,1931,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1583394747332","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-trochez"},{"teacherId":2533484,"projectId":9760086,"letterContent":"Thank you for donating to our pollinator garden project. My students were very excited to receive the items we did because these items were needed and contributed to the success of our garden project.\r\n\r\nThe watering can, the trellis, the small white signs used to label our different plants, and more helped my students have a successful time with the garden they planted. Our growing areas were used to grow some vegetables and wild flowers. My students' goal was to attract honey bees, butterflies, and other pollinators to all our garden beds, not just the one designated for our classroom. The growing container with the trellis as well as the grow sacks gave my students more space to expand our garden bed, or the area where they could plant seeds and seedlings--the growing sacks with signs gave my students their own individual garden space to grow radish and carrot seeds which in turn they were able to journal their observations and sketch what they saw whenever they visited their individual gardens. \r\n\r\nI am very grateful for the learning experience your donation gave to my students. This project provided them with some of the very basic supplies needed in a classroom that help clean messes and help keep my students healthy. The paper towels were used by my students to clean up their eating areas after breakfast in the classroom, as well as cleaning up after art projects. The Clorox wipes were also used for clean up after breakfast as well as to wipe down student tables often, especially if a student was sick. My students loved the Ozobot robot and found it endearing because of its tiny size. They also enjoyed learning about the animal they selected and its habitat. Of course they were curious to see the arrival of the boxes to our classroom, but when they understood what they were going to create with the printer, tote bags, and drawstring backpacks, they could not contain their excitement.\r\n\r\nFor this project, my students learned about avant-garde artist Yayoi Kusama, and then used her artwork as inspiration to create art that resonated with them but took elements of Kusama's art. This was the perfect unit for my students as we were wrapping up end-of-the-year state testing since it gave them the brain break they needed from a long day of testing while giving them an opportunity to be creative. But the real magic happened when they took digital images of their artwork, imported the images into Canva, and then decided how to showcase their art before printing the final design onto the sublimation paper with our new printer. \r\n\r\nWith designs printed onto sublimation paper, we began pressing the pages onto the tote bags which we then displayed at our schools Art Fest the last weekend in May. Families in attendance were impressed and wanted to know how they could get their own student-designed tote bags. In addition, we were able to design and create the Arts Fest tote bags that were given away to families in attendance, and we also used the supplies to design and create drawstring backpacks for our STEM club kits which they used on their field trip to the CA Science Center. My students received compliments, and one visitor wanted to know where in the Museum did we purchase them.\r\n\r\nI can't wait for next year to see what my students will design and create next year!
