This is the first time in my teaching career where children are telling me that they don't have any books at home! They are asking to borrow my library books every day. They all have a great interest in reading. My daily read aloud's are the best time of the day for them and when I hold most of their interest. Picture books support counting skills and make it both fun and interesting for both the parent and the child. The storybooks will help parents and caregivers talk about math with their children while reading together. Counting and reading are important skills that will prepare childrens math learning. Having a fun math book of their own to take home each week will allow for quality bonding time between child and parent.
