They place Post-it notes throughout the book with questions about vocabulary, home financing, and concepts they would like to understand better.\r\n\r\nIn Chapter 3, students are creating a spreadsheet that breaks down the expenses associated with purchasing and owning a primary residence compared with a rental property. This activity is helping students understand that purchasing a home is a complex financial decision that involves many different costs and considerations. It has also introduced students to the importance of working with professionals who can help guide buyers through the home-buying process and they see that they can become the professionals. \r\n\r\nThe book has also created opportunities to discuss current programs and resources available to first-time homebuyers. For 7th graders, personal privacy screens eliminated visual distractions and prevent wandering eyes during exams, helping younger students build strong, independent study habits. In an era where education is increasingly shifting toward digital screens, your support has allowed me to reintroduce an invaluable, tactile dimension to our classroom learning environment. Thanks to your kindness, my students have been able to successfully navigate some of the most rigorous milestones of their academic journey, and the positive ripples of your gift continue to be felt every single day. As part of the rigorous IB DP our students are required to complete the Extended Essay (EE)—an independent research project that demands a high level of academic discipline, deep analytical thinking, and exhaustive research. Thanks to your support, our students were able to print out their scholarly articles and source materials. Having access to physical, printed copies completely transformed how they interacted with their research. In a world full of digital distractions, it was profoundly impactful to watch these young scholars step away from their laptop screens and return to traditional pen-and-paper analysis. With printed documents in hand, they grabbed highlighters and pens, physically marking up their texts, scribbling notes in the margins, and cross-referencing sources spread out across their desks. The color aspect of the printer was especially crucial, as it allowed them to print out data charts, colorful graphs, and visual evidence that would have otherwise been difficult to decipher in standard black and white. This tactile experience allowed them to slow down and truly digest the challenging material they were working with. Beyond the Extended Essay, this printer has also become an indispensable tool for our IB DP English class. Students have used it to print out literary commentaries and copies of poems. It has completely changed the workflow of our classroom. My room has now earned a reputation among the student body as the reliable, welcoming place to go whenever anything needs to be printed. The kids know they can walk through my door at any time and find the resources they need to succeed. This has not only relieved an immense amount of academic stress but has also built a wonderful sense of community and support. Please know that you have done so much more than just buy a piece of office technology for a school; you have invested in the minds of hard-working, passionate young people and given them the exact tools they needed to thrive. Thank you for believing in our students and for making such a lasting, tangible difference in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1760503533608,"projectUrl":"project/printing-for-deeper-thinking-supporting/9820375/","projectTitle":"Printing for Deeper Thinking: Supporting IB TOK and EE Research","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Munoz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1241184_orig.png?crop=148,148,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1741216115459","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1241184"},{"teacherId":10509941,"projectId":10286553,"letterContent":"On behalf of my students and our entire classroom, I would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude for your generous support of our DonorsChoose project. This hands-on learning experience provided students with an invaluable opportunity to explore anatomy, physiology, and biological systems in a way that textbooks alone cannot offer. Through the dissection process, students developed critical thinking skills, scientific observation techniques, and a deeper understanding of the structure and function of living organisms. For many of our students, this was their first opportunity to participate in a real laboratory investigation. Their excitement, curiosity, and engagement throughout the activity were truly inspiring. The experience sparked meaningful discussions, encouraged collaboration, and helped students connect classroom concepts to real-world science.
