After the covid 19 pandemic, enrollment in my painting classes grew. It seemed that students needed a positive outlet to express their feelings during this time. Students have said painting became their therapy. Many of my students receive Title I benefits. They also cannot afford art supplies. When our classes were conducted online, this was a problem. To help this situation I created 120 art supply "grab bags," which contained paint brushes, paint, and other useful tools. I handed out these grab bags at a student drive by. It was a huge success. As a classroom teacher (and artist), I know that having the right tools, such as clean brushes and paint, makes a huge difference in the quality of work one can do. Students need different sized brushes to paint certain areas with more details and expression. Having nice clean brushes can enhance students' painting-and learning-experience.
