When the packages arrived, their faces lit up seeing the vibrant packs of colored paper, fresh post-its, and a heavy-duty pencil sharpener. Having these shiny new supplies ready to go gave them an immediate sense of excitement and security, making our classroom feel like a fully equipped, welcoming home where their creativity and unique personalities can truly shine.\r\n\r\nWe have quickly integrated these everyday essentials into our daily routines to keep our momentum going strong. The cleaning supplies have been vital in keeping our high-traffic workspaces pristine and germ-free, giving us peace of mind so we can focus entirely on learning. During our morning community blocks, the scissors and post-its have been put to constant use for collaborative icebreakers and brainstorming activities. Just a few days ago, we used the bright colored paper to design our first interactive classroom display, where each student highlighted their unique strengths. I also used the colored paper to print out our very first newsletter home, and parents loved how easily the bright colors stood out in their children's backpacks!","fullyFundedDate":1725213156623,"projectUrl":"project/hitting-the-ground-running/8673926/","projectTitle":"Hitting the Ground Running","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Baek","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3997507"},{"teacherId":3997507,"projectId":8378100,"letterContent":"The day the gardening supplies arrived, our classroom felt like an active science lab. My fifth graders were absolutely thrilled to unbox the soil, planters, and dustpan sets, and their curiosity immediately sparked a barrage of questions about what we would be growing. For these energetic students, the opportunity to do hands-on, messy work was incredibly exciting. Seeing the raw materials right in front of them turned an abstract concept like \"environmentalism\" into a real, tangible adventure that they couldn't wait to start.\r\n\r\nWe put these tools to work right away to bring our Earth Day lessons to life. Just last week, we moved our learning outdoors for a planting lab, giving the students an invigorating, stimulating break from our indoor routine. I watched a group of students who usually stay quiet in class completely roll up their sleeves, take charge of measuring out the soil, and carefully plant their seeds while discussing how composting helps the earth. They took total ownership of the clean-up process using our new dustpans, proud to keep their workspace tidy. This project has made sustainable practices like organic gardening and water conservation incredibly concrete, showing my students that their actions can directly create a healthier community.","fullyFundedDate":1715176775300,"projectUrl":"project/connections-with-earth/8378100/","projectTitle":"Connections with Earth","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Baek","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3997507"},{"teacherId":3997507,"projectId":7821214,"letterContent":"When the new packages arrived, the students were incredibly excited to unbox the tools that would make our flexible seating routine run even smoother. They eagerly grabbed the new clipboards, testing them out in different spots around the room, and were thrilled to receive their brand-new reading and writing workbooks. Seeing the fresh materials gave them an immediate boost of motivation, knowing they had exactly what they needed to do their best work anywhere in the classroom.\r\n\r\nThese supplies have perfectly solved our logistical needs and have already had a huge impact on our daily routines. The clipboards have been an absolute game-changer; just yesterday during our writing block, students were comfortably spread out on their flexible seats, using their clipboards as sturdy, mobile desks to draft their stories without missing a beat. Meanwhile, the new magnets have allowed me to easily post and rearrange colorful anchor charts all over the classroom walls. I watched a student look up from their clipboard, use a magnetic vowel-team chart on the board to check their spelling, and proudly finish their paragraph completely independently. The new workbooks have also provided the perfect, structured space for them to reinforce these vital literacy skills daily.","fullyFundedDate":1694388866394,"projectUrl":"project/supplies-resources/7821214/","projectTitle":"Supplies & Resources","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Baek","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3997507"},{"teacherId":3997507,"projectId":7788299,"letterContent":"I wish you could have seen the look on my students' faces when they walked into the classroom and saw our new flexible seating options set up for the first time. There were audible gasps, huge smiles, and an immediate rush to try out the different seating styles. For my students who thrive on movement, their relief was palpable. Having these options has sent a powerful message to my class: it tells them that their physical comfort and individual learning needs truly matter, instantly transforming our room into a safe, welcoming environment.\r\n\r\nWe have woven these seating options perfectly into our daily math routines, using them as interactive stations for a recent unit on financial literacy. Just last week, during a lesson on real-world applications of spending and saving money, the different seats served as specialized learning hubs. I watched a group of students sit fully engaged at the \"earning\" station, using the movement of their seats to stay focused and regulated while collaborating on complex multi-step multiplication problems. The physical freedom to bounce or rock appropriately has completely eliminated the usual fidgeting, allowing these bright masterminds to stay locked into their lessons for much longer stretches of time.","fullyFundedDate":1694039276522,"projectUrl":"project/movement-for-masterminds/7788299/","projectTitle":"Movement for Masterminds","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Baek","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3997507"},{"teacherId":3997507,"projectId":7692524,"letterContent":"When the packages arrived filled with fresh math supplies, the classroom was buzzing with excitement. The students were immediately drawn to the sand timers, watching the sand flow and asking how we would use them. Their eyes also lit up when they received their brand-new graph paper composition notebooks, which made them feel like \"official\" mathematicians. Having a complete refresh of pencils, crisp whiteboard markers, and erasers gave them an immediate sense of pride and ownership over their daily math work.\r\n\r\nWe have already put these tools to incredible use to build independent \"Math Think\" habits during our daily math centers. The whiteboard markers, erasers, and graph paper notebooks have completely transformed our \"math mat\" practice, allowing students to kinesthetically map out foundational skills and sketch out word problems using the grid paper. A specific moment that stood out happened just this week with our new sand timers. A student who typically struggles with pacing and staying focused on independent tasks flipped a two-minute timer at their desk. Guided by that silent visual cue, they stayed completely locked in, independently solved three problems, and beamed with pride when they finished right as the last grain of sand fell.","fullyFundedDate":1692555002314,"projectUrl":"project/math-thinking-tools/7692524/","projectTitle":"Math Thinking Tools","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Baek","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3997507"},{"teacherId":3997507,"projectId":7535784,"letterContent":"When the boxes of brand-new communication folders and large poster boards arrived, the students were eager to see how we would use them. The communication folders have completely transformed our daily routine, acting as a reliable, organized bridge between school and home. Parents have shared how much they appreciate having a dedicated space for homework, classwork, and important school updates. Meanwhile, inside the classroom, the poster boards have been a game-changer for our group lessons. Just last week, during a reading comprehension lesson, students worked in small teams to map out a story structure on a giant poster board. Creating these visual anchor charts allowed them to practice active listening, share their ideas, and talk through their learning together. We now hang these charts on the wall, and the students constantly refer back to them during independent work.","fullyFundedDate":1691603256831,"projectUrl":"project/back-to-school-necessities/7535784/","projectTitle":"Back to School Necessities","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Baek","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3997507"},{"teacherId":3997507,"projectId":7034170,"letterContent":"The day our new projector arrived and was finally set up, the classroom felt completely re-energized. The students' faces lit up when they saw just how bright, crisp, and vibrant the image on the board was compared to our old, blurry one. They were absolutely thrilled that they no longer had to squint, turn off all the classroom lights, or strain their eyes just to read the daily objectives. It instantly made our classroom feel like a modern, tech-forward space where they were excited to focus and learn.\r\n\r\nWe have integrated this new projector into every single one of our core lessons, and it has completely transformed our English and Math journal time. Just a few days ago, instead of me simply writing a problem on the board, a student was able to wirelessly cast their own math solution from their desk for the entire class to see and discuss. The clarity of the image allowed the rest of the class to easily follow along and take precise notes in their journals. It has saved us so much transition time and turned passive listening into an interactive, student-led experience.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, our next major step is a technology-driven research presentation. Now that we have a reliable, high-quality display, the students are working on creating their very own PowerPoint presentations to showcase their learning to their peers. They are incredibly motivated knowing their hard work will be projected clearly for the whole room to celebrate.
