The students were very excited to see the materials we received for the \"Electrify the Lab\" project. They were immediately drawn to the Plasma globe with the enticing light and colors. They loved being able to engage with it by touching it with their hands to redirect the flow of the plasma. I also brought out some fluorescent bulbs to place near the plasma globe, so the students can see how energy can transfer from one gas to another through the air. \r\n\r\nThe freefall apparatus with the electronic timer was fun and easy for the students to use. We have begun exploring our classroom to see differences in heat signatures among objects throughout the room. The most interesting one my students found was the portable air conditioning unit - the students can see how the warm air in the intake hose is transformed into cool air in the classroom. \r\n\r\nThe students are really curious about other applications for the device. I think we will continue our investigations by using it to analyze the efficiency of different machines(laptops, phones, etc.) by analyzing their heat output from their vents.\r\n\r\nThis project could not have come to fruition without your generous support.
