They crowded around the boxes and immediately started guessing what everything was. The seat sacks were a huge hit, and the plain white shirts got an instant burst of \"Can we paint them today?\" energy. It felt like the whole room lit up.\r\n\r\nWe started our T-shirt project by hand-painting a big circle on each shirt to represent the unity of our class. Students chose different colors to show how we all come from different cultural backgrounds but still fit together as one community. Watching them sign each other's shirts with little notes and doodles was such a sweet moment. They were proud of what they created and proud of each other.\r\n\r\nThe seat sacks have already made our days so much easier. Since backpacks stay outside, students used to constantly leave the room for supplies. Now everything is right at their desks, and our transitions are calmer and quicker. Just when we found out our project was going to be funded, and saw the boxes coming, we couldn't wait and we did and unboxing together. It was a really thrilling and exciting moment to be able to sit and take turns to do the unboxing together. \r\n\r\nWith the use of the various games like UNO cards, the national geographic marble run, jenga, magnetic building cubes, lego gear bots and emotions manipulatives my students behaviors and discipline issues are a thing of the past. It was very hands on for all who desired. Students worked on being gentle and none of the larvae/animals were ever harmed. My class really demonstrated how they have built a strong community where we all participate in so many ways and learn together. I am excited that I will remain with my same students next year!
