Your generosity gave my students access to engaging, high-interest reading materials that became an important part of our learning all year long.\r\n\r\nThrough StoryWorks, students practiced essential reading and writing skills such as finding text evidence, identifying main ideas, analyzing nonfiction text features, building vocabulary, and supporting their thinking through written responses and discussions. The articles sparked curiosity, encouraged thoughtful conversations, and helped students connect reading to the world around them.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom became active and collaborative. Students highlighted important details, annotated texts, discussed ideas with partners, and eagerly shared what they learned. Many students especially loved the debate articles and nonfiction stories because they gave everyone a chance to have a voice and share their opinions respectfully.\r\n\r\nOne of the most rewarding parts of this year was watching students grow in both confidence and enthusiasm for reading. Some students who were hesitant readers at the beginning of the year became some of the first to ask, \"What are we reading next?\" The accessible formats, exciting topics, and supportive reading features helped many students feel successful and engaged.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, my students not only strengthened their academic skills, but also developed greater confidence, curiosity, and enjoyment in reading. They couldn't believe that this peaceful little space was just for them. Right away, they started exploring the cozy seating, sensory tools, and reflection cards. One student said, \"It feels like my brain can take a break here.\"\r\n\r\nWe now use the calm corner every day as part of our classroom routine. Students go there to take mindful breaths, use fidgets to refocus, or write in a calm journal before rejoining the group. It's made a noticeable difference in helping students regulate emotions and get back on track more quickly after feeling frustrated or overwhelmed.\r\n\r\nAs we move into our upcoming social–emotional learning unit, students will be practicing identifying emotions and using strategies from the calm corner to handle stress or solve problems peacefully. Because of your generosity, they have a safe, comforting place to put those lessons into action.\r\n\r\nThank you again for believing in our classroom and for helping my students learn that it's okay to take a moment, breathe, and reset.","fullyFundedDate":1742960777659,"projectUrl":"project/calm-corner/9155932/","projectTitle":"Calm Corner","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Alana Brown","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9645950_orig.jpg?crop=1219,1219,x796,y937&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1723330360128","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9645950"},{"teacherId":10002148,"projectId":9261365,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donations. The new light table items have quickly become a classroom favorite, sparking curiosity and creativity.\r\n\r\nWe are especially grateful for the fine motor tools, like the prongs, which help strengthen our students' hand muscles—an important step in preparing them for writing.
