The addition of resonator bells, triangles, finger cymbals, and jingle bells has made a wonderful impact on more than 300 students. The moment my students saw the new instruments, their faces lit up with excitement and curiosity! They could hardly wait to explore the different sounds and discover how each instrument could contribute to our music-making. These resources have allowed students to become more actively engaged in lessons while developing their rhythmic skills, musical independence, collaboration, and confidence as young musicians.\r\n\r\nOne of our first opportunities to use these instruments has been through our musical \"Pumpkin Rounds\" and preparations for our upcoming Winter performances. Students have enjoyed combining singing with instrumental accompaniments, creating beautiful layers of sound while practicing steady beat, rhythmic patterns, and ensemble skills. It has been especially rewarding to watch students listen carefully to one another, take responsibility for their musical parts, and experience the joy of creating something special together. The excitement of hearing our classroom come alive with the sounds of bells and percussion has brought a renewed sense of enthusiasm to our music lessons.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, these instruments will continue to inspire creativity as students begin developing their own classroom compositions, experimenting with musical patterns, and preparing for our Spring performances. My goal is to give every student opportunities to explore, improvise, compose, and discover their own musical voice. Because of your generosity, our students have access to meaningful, hands-on musical experiences that will continue enriching their education for years to come. Thank you for helping us \"ring the bells\" and for making music education more joyful, engaging, and accessible for all of our students!","fullyFundedDate":1786541631670,"projectUrl":"project/ting-a-ling-school-bells-a-ring/10370070/","projectTitle":"Ting-A-Ling School Bells A-Ring!","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Bogan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5792610_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1726031136853","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5792610"},{"teacherId":8207654,"projectId":10351736,"letterContent":"Thank you for your support for this 2026-2027 school year. Changing grade levels is never easy but helping provide some of the materials we needed for this year made it easier. Here's how we are using the items. \r\n\r\nFirst, each student started the school year with a brand new academic folder that included 3 pencils and eraser toppers while reserving the rest for the remainder of the school year to replace them as needed. \r\n\r\nSecondly, students have sheet protectors inside their binders to hold important items such as their binder agreements, and color printed cheat sheets printed with the refillable ink cartridges donated by you!\r\n\r\nWe also printed the beautiful name tags with the ink and laminated them with the laminated seats ordered from your donations to start the year off right. The namesake it printed double sided and have some helpful references on both sides. \r\n\r\nLastly, the stapler is used for students or myself to put together any packets or sheets and the magnetic hooks are being used to hang out art on our metal window rails to bring the room to life. \r\n\r\nThank you again for everything you all have done for our class.","fullyFundedDate":1785260836971,"projectUrl":"project/starting-off-the-school-year/10351736/","projectTitle":"Starting off the School Year","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Malavenda","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8207654_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1638311592767","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8207654"},{"teacherId":10444971,"projectId":10126327,"letterContent":"Volleyball days in rooms 7 (and 8) are no longer a drag! My students have enjoyed the delicious snacks and have been able to be rewarded for working hard. Using the pre-mack principle for our students works great to incentivize students who might find other activities less engaging. Many students choose to be rewarded by edibles rather than activities or sensory items so the ability to replenish our snack options has been an amazing support. \r\nBeing a title 1 school, my students come from different economic backgrounds but most come from families just getting by. I myself was once a student in this district and know what it's like to depend on school provided meals to provide a bulk of our school day nutrition. Having snacks in our classroom has always been a necessity but unfortunately been something mostly funded by myself. Some parents provide donations when they can but the financial burden has mostly fallen on myself and my staff. Donations like yours help offset that cost so that we may continue buying other resources with our own funds. Thank you for seeing our class needs and putting all students first.","fullyFundedDate":1766067741087,"projectUrl":"project/fuel-for-learning-snacks-for-my-student/9767446/","projectTitle":"Fuel for Learning: Snacks for My Students with Autism","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Vince","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9119017_orig.png?crop=410,410,x0,y41&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1690430458069","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9119017"},{"teacherId":5792610,"projectId":9466828,"letterContent":"Our students have been excitedly exploring the new parachute, hula hoops, jump ropes, and stretchy bands generously provided by our donors. Through movement activities and rhythm-based games, students used the new equipment to feel the beat, respond to musical cues, and collaborate with classmates in creative, joyful ways.\r\n\r\nThe impact was immediate, students were thrilled the moment they saw the new resources and eager to engage with them. The tools have helped elevate our lessons by making abstract musical concepts more tangible and interactive, supporting both musical understanding and physical coordination.\r\n\r\nOur next steps include taking these activities outdoors to give students more space to explore movement connected to music. These outdoor lessons will help prepare students for our upcoming spring performances, where they'll apply what they've learned in a dynamic and engaging way for our school community.","fullyFundedDate":1760546398955,"projectUrl":"project/movement-for-music/9466828/","projectTitle":"Movement for Music!","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Bogan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5792610_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1726031136853","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5792610"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_29352","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":260,"numTeachers":19,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":34,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":61,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":0,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"13.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":75.5,"schoolId":29352,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Rio Vista Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Rio Vista Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/el-monte-city-school-district/rio-vista-elementary-school/29352"}
