What began as an idea for a creative space has grown into a place where students can explore their curiosity and discover that they are capable of being designers, engineers, artists, and innovators.\r\n\r\nThe materials have given students opportunities to learn through hands-on experiences, from building and testing catapults to creating art, experimenting with dominoes, designing structures with craft materials, and exploring simple circuits and motion. Students have learned that their first idea does not always work, and that is okay. They can make changes, try again, and learn from what happens. The safety goggles, child-friendly scissors, and organized supplies have also helped us create a space where students can explore responsibly and confidently. Our 3rd-5th graders have unlocked new core memories. The younger grades had the best time watching the egg drop. Students worked so hard to design and build their contraption to protect their egg. We had 95 eggs survive the fall! The eggs were 80 feet and dropped by an amazing fire fighter from our local fire department. Students got to see the ladder truck be raised into the sky and cheered as the firefighter climbed it. This has become a favorite tradition at our school and something we will continue for many years to come.
