At the beginning of the school year, when we discovered that our PE equipment was missing, both my students and I were incredibly disappointed. For the first couple of months, our activities were limited to basic fitness routines like track and field and stretching, which made it difficult to fully engage students in meaningful and enjoyable physical activity.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, everything has changed. My students are now actively participating in games like basketball, football, soccer, volleyball, and kickball, sports they genuinely love and look forward to each day. One of my favorite moments has been watching students from both 8th grade classes come together on the field, working as teams, encouraging one another, and building a strong sense of community. The usual separation between class periods has faded, replaced by collaboration, laughter, and shared experiences. It has been incredibly rewarding to see students not only stay active, but also develop teamwork and social connections through play.\r\n\r\nYour donation has also made a meaningful difference beyond the classroom. As a new teacher, replacing lost equipment was a significant financial challenge, especially while balancing other responsibilities. Your generosity has lifted that burden and allows me to continue supporting my students in other ways, whether that's providing classroom supplies, rewards, or creating a positive learning environment.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, over 50 students now have access to engaging, high-quality PE experiences that promote both physical health and community. You have made a lasting impact not only on their school experience, but on me as an educator as well. Thank you for believing in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1766347561497,"projectUrl":"project/pe-equipment/9859969/","projectTitle":"PE Equipment","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Boyd","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10333219_orig.jpg?crop=1440,1440,x0,y292&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1761511464792","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrboydsclassroom"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_7720","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":570,"numTeachers":23,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":16,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":80,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"24.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":62.3,"schoolId":7720,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Ralph Waldo Emerson Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Ralph Waldo Emerson Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/compton-unified-school-district/emerson-elementary-school/7720"}
