I had a student with two dads gravitate gravitate towards \"Stella Brings the Family\". I have student who revealed to me in her journal entry that she has a \"crush\" on another girl in our class take\"Love Violet\"to read. I had a Vietnamese-American student become enthralled in \"A Different Pond\". I teach year round about some of the amazing people that make our country so great and in February we talked about Stacy Abrams and now we have three books in our class that she wrote. I can't wait to share those books with next years class. \r\nA big bonus is that my third graders also have kindergarten reading buddies we meet with each week and they are excited to take these books to our buddy meeting and share them with the little ones. \r\n Every month when we celebrate our different cultures and families it is such a pleasure to pull out the books that honor and represent the beautiful diversity that each student and their family bring to our classroom.
