My flute players in particular immediately noticed the new instrument case and cheered when they realized what it meant. In the past, forgetting an instrument at home meant a student had to sit out, take notes, and miss an entire period of playing. Seeing a dedicated loaner flute ready to go in the classroom made them feel supported, relieved, and excited that missing a home practice day wouldn't stall their progress at school.\r\n\r\nThese new resources have already made an incredible impact on our day-to-day rehearsals. The toolbox has been a total game-changer for classroom management and instruction time. Just this week, three music stands collapsed during rehearsal due to loose hardware that normally would have required sending them to maintenance or tossing them aside. With the tools right on hand, I was able to tighten the fittings and repair them in seconds without interrupting the flow of class. Meanwhile, having the loaner flute in rotation meant that when a student accidentally left their instrument behind, they simply stepped up, picked up the classroom flute, and didn't miss a single note or beat with the rest of the ensemble.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, our band is diving into new, more complex full-ensemble music for our upcoming concert. With fully functioning music stands to hold their sheet music and a reliable backup flute in the room, every student can focus entirely on refining their tone, sight-reading, and playing together as a cohesive team. Your support has removed daily frustrations and kept our momentum going strong, and we are so grateful for your investment in our young musicians!","fullyFundedDate":1777926877033,"projectUrl":"project/odds-and-ends/10258066/","projectTitle":"Odds and Ends","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Neri","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10271138_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1784823126594","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10271138"},{"teacherId":10271138,"projectId":10231353,"letterContent":"When the boxes containing our new power adapters, headphones, guitar strings, and movement scarves arrived, my students were ecstatic! The younger students gasped when they saw the vibrant, colorful scarves, while our older music lab students were visibly relieved to see brand-new power cables and headphone sets. Many of them immediately recognized that they wouldn't have to scramble to share working equipment anymore. Seeing a complete set of dedicated tools made them feel valued, supported, and excited to jump straight into making music.\r\n\r\nThese resources have already completely transformed our daily classroom environment. During our piano lab time, every single student can now plug in, put on their headphones, and immerse themselves in practice at their own comfortable pace. Just recently, a student who usually feels self-conscious practicing in front of peers spent an entire period focused and relaxed, working through a challenging piece in \"silent\" mode. When they finally took off their headphones to show me their progress, their pride was undeniable. Meanwhile, having fresh strings on hand meant a broken guitar string mid-lesson was fixed in minutes rather than benching a student for days, and our youngest learners have been joyfully using the movement scarves to track musical phrasing and tempo through kinesthetic movement.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, our students are channeling this newfound momentum into their upcoming end-of-term musical projects and performances. With all of our keyboards powered up and our guitars sounding crisp and clear, students are collaborating on small-group pieces and building confidence every single day. Caring for and using these new materials has given them a deep sense of ownership over their music space, and we are so grateful for your generosity in removing barriers to their creativity!","fullyFundedDate":1777484062334,"projectUrl":"project/amp-lifying-our-artistry/10231353/","projectTitle":"AMP-lifying Our Artistry","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Neri","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10271138_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1784823126594","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10271138"},{"teacherId":10271138,"projectId":10239572,"letterContent":"When the boxes of maintenance kits and repair tools arrived, my students' eyes lit up like it was Christmas morning. They were thrilled to see professional-grade valve oil, slide grease, and actual precision tools designated for our classroom. Many of them had grown accustomed to waiting days—or even weeks—for simple fixes, so seeing a full setup dedicated to keeping their instruments in top shape made them feel valued and supported. There was an immediate sense of pride and excitement as they unboxed everything and realized that minor instrument trouble would no longer hold them back from playing.\r\n\r\nThese new resources have already transformed our daily routine and saved valuable instructional time. Just last week, during a ensemble rehearsal, a student's trumpet valve completely froze mid-song. In the past, that student would have had to sit out for the rest of the period while we figured out a repair plan. Instead, we pulled out our new tool kit, addressed the issue together in under two minutes, and had them back in their seat making music before the end of the piece. Beyond quick repairs, we've integrated maintenance mini-lessons into our weekly schedule, teaching students how to oil their valves, grease their slides, and clean their instruments properly.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, our students are currently preparing for our upcoming concert program. With all of our instruments in reliable working condition, we can focus entirely on refining our tone, dynamics, and ensemble precision without the constant disruption of malfunctioning gear. Learning to care for their instruments has given them a deeper sense of ownership over their music, and we are so grateful for your generosity in making our classroom a place where the music never has to stop.","fullyFundedDate":1777757515748,"projectUrl":"project/keeping-our-band-in-treble-free-condit/10239572/","projectTitle":"Keeping Our Band in \"Treble\" Free Condition","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Neri","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10271138_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1784823126594","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10271138"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_91388","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":567,"numTeachers":30,"percentFrplEligible":75,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":3,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":86,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":4,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"18.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":73.3,"schoolId":91388,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Benjamin Franklin School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Benjamin Franklin School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/anaheim-elementary-school-district/benjamin-franklin-school/91388"}
