The colored floor tape has helped me clearly mark off our piano lab and my desk area, making it easier for students to understand where they should be during different activities and transitions.\r\n\r\nThe new music stands have also been incredibly helpful. Before receiving them, students often had to place their music on a table or chair while playing. Now, they have a proper stand that allows them to easily see their music while they play, making our instrument activities much more comfortable and organized.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments was showing my students the difference between one of our old drums and one of the new drums. The difference in sound and quality was immediately noticeable! My students were amazed by how much better the new drum sounded compared to the older one. They were so excited to hear the difference and to have new instruments that they could use in class.\r\n\r\nThese resources are helping us build a more organized, functional, and engaging music classroom. We will continue using the drums for rhythm activities and music-making, the stands for our instrumental activities, and the floor markings to help with classroom organization and movement. We initially encountered technology compatibility issues that had to be resolved before students could begin using the Raspberry Pis as intended. Once those issues were addressed, we discovered that programming them at the level we originally envisioned was a much bigger challenge than anticipated.\r\n\r\nInstead of giving up, we stepped back and started at the beginning. Students have spent time learning the fundamentals of how they work, how components connect, and how programming and electronics work together. This slower approach helps build the foundational knowledge they need before moving into more advanced projects. I have even made the materials available to another teacher that has a class more advanced so her students can benefit as well. \r\n\r\nUnexpectedly, one of the most valuable lessons from this project has had very little to do with technology. My students are learning that there aren't always shortcuts when solving a problem. Sometimes you have to troubleshoot, research, try something, fail, make adjustments, and try again. They have seen firsthand that even their teacher doesn't always have the answer immediately...and that figuring it out is part of STEM!\r\n\r\nThese materials continue to give my students (as well as students not in my class) opportunities to develop perseverance, problem-solving skills, and confidence with technology. As their understanding grows, we will continue building toward more advanced programming and electronics projects.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving my students the opportunity not only to learn about computers and programming, but also to experience what real-world problem solving looks like. Younger students can focus on building, patterns, fine-motor skills, and creative exploration, while older students can tackle more complex engineering challenges, circuits, design constraints, and problem-solving. The storage materials have helped keep everything organized and accessible so that we can spend more of our class time creating and less time searching for supplies!\r\n\r\nOne of the best parts has been watching students become excited to show me what they have created.
