The students have been using the Explore Learning Gizmos interactive simulations throughout this semester. The district added the students so it is quick sign up each time. We have been using it at various times throughout the units for example before as an intro for cells, during for an activity on homeostasis and the human body and as a activity lesson for osmosis. It really clarifies the topic being taught as well as challenges the students based on where they are in the assignment. For example for homeostasis, the students took on a role of a physician assistant to help diagnose a man who has Type II diabetes and high blood pressure. After they diagnosed the patient they had to apply the principles of filtration and homeostasis to help him. Students were able to finish thier underglazed hand project and they look amazing.\r\n Underglaze is a colorant that goes on greenware and then it is fired. The underglaze essentally bakes into the clay. Underglaze is a fantastic way to add color that will not run and fine details can be made. GLaze is needed to finish the bisque fired underglaze projects. Glaze helps the underglaze develop further and it seals and waterproofs the projects.\r\n Without your help we probably would have just painted these projects. Several students have taken the lead and teach new players when they arrive. This was made easier with the Gateway product which includes a thick \"game board\" instead of paper play mats and steps players through a coached learning experience. \r\n\r\nWe were able to add several additional single player decks and the dice replaced the paper tokens included in these decks. The dice are easier to handle, see, and don't go missing on the floor. The large box is VERY helpful because we've been able to store all the sleeved decks for easy access.\r\n\r\nOften we enjoy hosting a large group of students playing in a multiplayer format.
