My school's students are approximately 75% minority, most students are from low-income families, and we are low-performing according to the state test. Our goal is to graduate students who are ready for college or a career. My students, like many teens, call themselves non-readers. However, my students have already found successes as they've been able to make choices when it comes to their reading. It has been amazing to see them change their perceptions of themselves as readers. These students are just waiting to find independence and develop a love of reading.

About my class
