Because of your generosity, my students were able to enjoy an end-of-year celebration that honored their hard work, growth, and perseverance. When students first saw the celebration materials, snacks, and decorations, they were filled with excitement and smiles. Many of my students come from Title I households, and for some, this was the first time they experienced a classroom celebration like this. One student shared, \"This feels special,\" which made the moment even more meaningful.\r\n\r\nWe used these resources to create a positive and inclusive celebration where students reflected on what they learned, shared memories with classmates, and practiced social skills like taking turns, expressing gratitude, and celebrating one another. For my English Language Learners, the celebration also provided natural opportunities to practice speaking and listening in a relaxed, joyful setting. Students proudly talked about their favorite lessons, projects, and goals they accomplished throughout the year.\r\n\r\nNext, my students will carry this sense of accomplishment with them as they transition to the next grade. Celebrating the end of the year helps students see that their effort matters and that school is a place where they are valued and supported. When the new supplies arrived, my students were excited to see markers pencils, paper, and learning materials ready for them to use. Several students said, \"We have new supplies!\" and eagerly got to work. For many of my students, especially those from Title I households, having their own materials at school helps them feel prepared, confident, and included.\r\n\r\nWe use these supplies daily during reading, writing, math, and hands-on learning activities. Students use paper and pencils to practice writing sentences, solve math problems, and draw pictures to support their understanding—an important strategy for English Language Learners. Having enough supplies allows me to focus on teaching instead of worrying about sharing or running out, and it gives students the freedom to fully engage in lessons without interruption.\r\n\r\nNext, my students will continue using these supplies as we work on building reading comprehension, writing complete sentences, and solving math problems with visuals and models. Many of my students are English Language Learners and come from Title I households, and having choice in seating helps them feel comfortable and included. When the new seating arrived, students were excited to try the teacher chairs, wiggle seats, scoop rockers, and bench table. They proudly asked, \"Can I try this one?\" and were eager to get started with learning.\r\n\r\nWe use flexible seating throughout the day during reading, writing, math, and small-group instruction. The wiggle seats and scoop rockers allow students to move their bodies while staying focused, which is especially helpful for students with attention and sensory needs. The teacher chairs and bench table create inviting spaces for partner work and small groups, where students can practice speaking, listening, and collaborating. I have noticed that students are more engaged, stay on task longer, and feel more confident participating in lessons when they are seated in a way that supports their bodies.\r\n\r\nNext, my students will continue using flexible seating as they work on reading comprehension, math problem solving, and language development. Several students immediately wanted to sit quietly and explore the space. One student said, \"This helps my body feel calm.\" It was clear right away that this space would help students feel safe and supported.\r\n\r\nWe now use the calming corner every day. Students choose it when they feel frustrated, tired, or unsure how to express their feelings in words. The breathing posters, feelings mirror, and mindful maze boards are especially helpful for my English learners because they provide visual and hands-on support. Students can point to a feeling, practice breathing, and calm their bodies without needing a lot of language. After spending a few minutes in the calming corner, students are better able to return to learning and participate with confidence.\r\n\r\nNext, my students will continue learning how to name emotions, practice self-control, and use strategies to calm themselves during lessons and transitions. When our new rugs arrived, my third graders' faces completely lit up. They couldn't believe that these cozy, colorful spaces were just for them. The smaller rug has turned into a calm corner where students can read, reflect, or take a quiet break when they need it.\r\n\r\nAlmost right away, I noticed a change in the energy of our room. Students naturally gravitate toward the rugs to collaborate, share ideas, and listen during lessons. During our current unit on narrative writing, they love to spread out on the big rug with their notebooks, sharing stories with partners or sketching storyboards. The space feels open, inviting, and full of life, exactly the kind of environment that helps young learners feel safe and excited to learn.\r\n\r\nNext, we're working on building stronger reading stamina and writing fluency. The rugs have become our \"thinking spots,\" where students feel comfortable taking creative risks and supporting one another. They're already looking forward to using the rugs to watch a movie together during our Halloween class party. I'm so grateful for how this project has helped transform not just the look of our classroom, but the way we learn and connect each day.\r\n\r\nA big, heartfelt thank you to all of you from me and my third graders.
