Your kind donation allowed us to implement an incentive program on March 1st, and to this date we have recovered over 30 credits. That is over 60 classes our students have completed on their journey. That is an average of almost 2 classes per day. At this rate we will project to have over 90 credits recovered by the end of the semester and 120 by the end of the summer session. \r\nIn terms that people can understand, that is the equivalent of 5 students completing their ENTIRE high school career, in credits terms, in only 4 short months.\r\nThe ability to provide them just a small incentive is a huge motivator. They love helping others and are generally well behaved. They get my sarcasm which also great because I am very sarcastic. They work at about a 3/4 grade level academically. I teach science and math. They take notes from power points and tests from notes. We do experiments in class as well. This year we are doing physical science and made slime and moon dough. They are able to use calculators and this year most of them have learned to round numbers. With the new resources, I assembled mental health baskets filled with stress balls, fidget spinners, ice packs, candy, blankets, and other comfort items. These baskets were then distributed to classrooms across campus, ensuring that students had access to tools that could help them manage stress and regulate their emotions. It was rewarding to see teachers incorporate these items into their classrooms, providing students with simple but effective ways to practice self-care throughout the school day.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the baskets in their classrooms, their reactions were filled with excitement and curiosity. Many immediately reached for the stress balls and fidget spinners, eager to try them out. Others expressed gratitude, sharing how helpful these items would be in moments of anxiety or stress. It was heartwarming to witness students recognize the importance of mental well-being and understand that they had access to resources that could make a difference in their daily lives.\r\n\r\nIn addition to distributing the baskets, I also had the opportunity to present to students across campus about the importance of mental health, developing coping skills, and regulating emotions. Through these presentations, I was able to engage students in meaningful conversations about recognizing stress, finding healthy ways to cope, and supporting one another. Many students opened up about their own experiences, and it was powerful to see them gain a deeper understanding of how to take care of their mental health.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, I plan to continue building on this momentum by working with teachers and counselors to ensure that mental health remains a priority on our campus. Future initiatives include ongoing discussions in classrooms, providing additional resources as needed, and potentially organizing a mental health awareness event. Thanks to the support of our donors, we have taken an important step toward creating a school culture that values and prioritizes mental well-being, and I am excited to keep this initiative going.","fullyFundedDate":1729999280783,"projectUrl":"project/mesa-high-school-mental-health/8901732/","projectTitle":"Mesa High School Mental Health","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Emery","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9815194"},{"teacherId":2822178,"projectId":8986528,"letterContent":"The printer we got will help the students print out reports that they do for science.
