Our elementary scholars used the resources from this project to create thoughtful gifts and activities for residents at a local Senior Living Home. They painted and decorated small plants, created crafts, prepared puzzle books and cards, and put together special gifts to share. When they first saw all of the materials, they were excited to know that these supplies would become something meaningful for someone else. They quickly began thinking about what they could create that would make the residents smile.\r\n\r\nThe most special part of this project was seeing our scholars interact with the seniors. During our visit, scholars sat with residents, talked and listened to their stories, and worked on activities together. Our scholars also performed songs for the residents, creating a joyful moment that brought smiles and laughter to the room. They proudly presented the gifts they had prepared.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue building a culture of kindness and service in our classroom. We are reflecting on our experience and discussing what we learned about empathy, communication, respect, and the impact of small acts of kindness. Most importantly, our scholars are learning that service is not just something we do for a project—it is a way of treating others. Because of your support, I was able to purchase a variety of math manipulatives that my students use every day. These include integer number lines, whiteboards with graphic organizers for long multiplication and division, multiplication charts, fraction tiles, and integer dice. These tools have made a meaningful difference in helping my students better understand and successfully solve math problems.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, I was able to purchase an extra iPad for the classroom. My students use the iPad daily to reinforce their reading, writing, and math skills in an engaging and interactive way. The apps we use align with the skills I am teaching, providing valuable practice and reinforcement. I've noticed that students are more motivated and engaged when using the iPad, and they are more eager to complete their work. One of my favorite things was seeing my students work together to solve a problem. They were so excited to use the new manipulatives and tools to show each other how they thought and explain their reasons. As they take charge of their learning, it's amazing to see their confidence grow. Their faces lit up with pure joy and interest when they saw the new materials for the first time. They couldn't wait to look around, and everyone in the room was excited too! Some of them even said, \"This feels like a brand-new classroom!\" These tools have helped them enjoy learning again, which has sparked their creativity and gotten them more involved. We are currently working on a project that asks students to use what they have learned in real life. The new tools are making it easier for them to picture and practice ideas that were hard for them to understand before. The next thing we need to do is keep this energy going by using these tools in future lessons and giving students more chances to work together, make things, and think critically.
