The materials arrived in two separate shipments, so we had fun having TWO class meetings to open our \"presents.\" The best part of this experience is telling the children that there are nice people out in the world like YOU, who bought these things for our classroom, just to be kind! They thought that was the coolest thing ever, and I agree!\r\nWe first opened the table toys, which were the marble mazes and the little magnetic building blocks. We've been enjoying the use of those after our seatwork is finished. Next we opened the camping set and that got a big reaction! They were so excited to see all the cute accessories, like the s'mores and the binoculars that really work! So far we have been just having fun with these toys, including the little tent. They were even excited about the bubble wrap that everything came in, and we spent some time popping the bubbles ( a great fine motor activity!).\r\nA few days later we got the trampoline! I decided to build it during free choice time in our resource room, and the kids were super interested in trying to guess what it could be. Finally, a few children were able to guess that it was a trampoline, and they couldn't wait to try it out! The playful nature of these activities keeps the students fully engaged, making learning both enjoyable and effective. It's wonderful to watch their excitement as they practice fine motor skills through play, which not only helps them develop physically but also encourages problem-solving and concentration.\r\n\r\nIn addition, our sensory bottles have become an essential part of our social-emotional learning lessons. These bottles are used as a calming tool, allowing students to watch the glitter slowly fall as they take a break to reset their emotions. It provides them with a peaceful moment, helping them learn to self-regulate and calm down when feeling overwhelmed. What makes this even more special is that the students had a hand in building the sensory bottles themselves, giving them ownership of the process and creating a deeper connection to their emotional learning.
