We will use the mindfulness books and cards such as Mindful Kids: 50 Activities for Calm, Focus and Peace for whole class read-alouds and discussion starters. The Yoga and Mindfulness Practices for Children Card Deck and The MindUP Curriculum: Grades PreK–2: Brain-Focused Strategies for Learning—and Living will provide a structure for guided mindfulness practices that will be useful at various times during the day. Our new STEAM materials will provide students hands-on opportunities to build, explore, and test hypotheses. Materials such as The Simple Machines Set, Simple Machines Activity Cards, and NEOWOWS 200 Pieces Wooden Building Blocks Stacking Games Construction Educational Toys for Kids Toddlers Boys Girls will allow for hands-on discovery. The materials will enhance my students' ability to recognize and regulate their emotions, think calmly and clearly, and be better prepared to participate in higher-ordering thinking activities such as the Carson Dellosa Seasonal STEM Challenges and Learning Cards requested here.
