I teach first grade in a wonderful community in Sonoma County. My students come from a variety of backgrounds. They are full of curiosity and energy. They love to stay busy! I have found that as our times have moved so much toward technology, the students' experiences building, creating and engineering has drastically diminished over the years. I want to reintroduce some of these stretching activities to these inquisitive minds. Their dexterity would also be enhanced with these building and designing activities. My students would truly benefit from these STEM activities socially, physically and mentally. Everyone needs an opportunity to become engineers and mathematicians!
