This gave them access to fresh, exciting material that they had limited access to before. Having a wider selection of contemporary and classic texts helped them see literature as something alive and relevant, not just a list of required readings. Many students said the new titles made them curious and eager to dive into stories they might not have chosen on their own.\r\n\r\nThe availability of more variety naturally motivated students to read more and more deeply. This helped create greater opportunity for them to find books that matched their interests and challenged their thinking to help build stronger reading habits. The new materials also encouraged independent reading and sparked spontaneous conversations about themes, characters, and writing styles—absolutely the kind of conversations that we hope students will engage in more.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, the books made class more fun. Discussions became more lively, activities more engaging, and students more invested in sharing their perspectives. The excitement around the new texts created a positive energy in the room, turning reading into something they looked forward to each day. Overall, the donation enriched our classroom environment and strengthened our community of readers.","fullyFundedDate":1757434380409,"projectUrl":"project/ap-reading/9635693/","projectTitle":"AP Reading","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Nunn","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9758909"},{"teacherId":9758909,"projectId":9615741,"letterContent":"Whom we hold with the most high regard and esteem!\r\n\r\nOn behalf of my English, Creative Writing, and Film students, I want to extend my deepest gratitude for your generous donation of phone video equipment and accessories, as well as, novels and graphic novels for these courses. Your support has already sparked tremendous excitement in our classrooms, as students explore filmmaking with tools that allow them to bring their stories to life in new, meaningful, and professional ways. Your contribution shows them that their voices matter and that their creativity is worth investing in.\r\n\r\nWith this new equipment and books, our students can now produce higher-quality films, experiment with visual storytelling techniques, and elevate the clarity and impact of their work. Many of them have never had access to such resources before, and your donation has opened doors to learning experiences that were once out of reach. Whether they are crafting narrative shorts, documentary pieces, or creative writing projects adapted for the screen, your generosity has made a remarkable difference in what they can achieve.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, your gift has inspired our students to think bigger, take creative risks, and imagine new possibilities for their futures. Students in ASL Concurrent Enrollment/Level 4 used ASL to translate children's books. At the end of the book, students selected 10 signs to teach students. The ASL program collaborated with elementary school media specialists to set up times for the ASL students to visit to promote this project and the final projects. During these visits, elementary students were able to ask questions about ASL, Deaf Culture, etc. \r\nWith the help of donors like you, ASL students were able to donate over 150 books to South Washington County elementary schools!
