By donating to our classroom you have made things so much easier. We appreciate everything you helped us get! The Lysol wipes are vital! We have been badly hit by the flu and have had a fourth of the class out sick - but we were able to turn the tide by wiping down every surface! Attendance returned to normal and we can all learn together. You gave us soap too and we take the soap with us when we go to the bathroom to make sure we can wash our hands and keep ALL the germs away!\r\n\r\nWe use the headphones daily to complete our independent work online. It is so much better to not have the distraction of 28 lessons going at the same time! And the headphones have lasted! It was a great investment! Each student has 2 composition books - one for lessons on the computer and one for lessons with me. It makes it so much easier when everyone has the materials they need!\r\n\r\nAnd all the paper you sent...I don't know if you can imagine what it is like to try to teach when you are told there is no copy paper available, but it is a nightmare, so thank you for making it so easy! With the supplies you helped fund, I was able to create individual hygiene kits for students that include items like deodorant and hair care products. These kits give students privacy, dignity, and the confidence to focus on learning instead of worrying about basic needs.\r\nIn addition, the granola bars you provided ensure that my students are fed every day. Having reliable access to food has helped students stay focused, energized, and ready to participate in class. For some students, this snack is the difference between struggling through the day and being able to fully engage in learning.\r\nI see the impact of your support every day—in students who feel more comfortable, more confident, and more prepared to learn. Thanks to you, my students have participated in many interesting, engaging art projects using high quality materials. We used the paintbrushes, containers, and mixed media paper in our Wing mural project. Students in 6th through 8th grade learned about interactive art, murals, and zentangle. They used watercolor to paint their feather, and sharpie to add zentangle patterns. We talked about artist's purpose and looked at Kelsey Montague's interactive artwork. \r\nThe paint containers came in handy again when 1st grade painted Spiderwebs! We used the mixed media paper for that as well. It's the best paper!! \r\nPre-K and Kindergarten used paint as well for their Winter House Landscapes. That project is so fun. We talk about texture, students discuss the texture of snow, and we make a list of expectations for safe painting. After we painted the snowy ground, students used triangles, rectangles, and squares to add houses to their landscape. \r\nThank you for your gratitude. What was once just an open, noisy space now feels like a real learning environment — one where they can concentrate, ask questions, and feel proud of the work they do.\r\nThe chair you provided has made an enormous difference for me personally. As a physically disabled teacher, having a supportive seat is not just a comfort. It's an accessibility need that allows me to teach effectively and sustainably.\r\nYour generosity didn't just provide furniture; it restored a sense of normalcy and belonging to a space that didn't have either. My students see that learning matters here, and your kindness made that possible. Thank you for helping us turn a hallway into a classroom full of hope, heart, and math.","fullyFundedDate":1758636478948,"projectUrl":"project/a-classroom-at-the-end-of-the-hallway/9643186/","projectTitle":"A “Classroom” at the End of the Hallway","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Smith","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10063182_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1750801837995","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-smiths-accessible-classroom"},{"teacherId":10063182,"projectId":9431433,"letterContent":"When I first submitted this project, it was designed for a classroom — four walls, a whiteboard, and a door. But life had other plans. Due to space limitations, my students and I now learn in a hallway. Thanks to your generosity, what could have felt like a setback has become something beautiful.\r\nThe rug has transformed our little corner of the hallway into a real learning space — a place that feels safe, warm, and ours. The rug has provided them with a comfortable spot to sit that's not crowded around a small table. The document camera has made teaching so much more interactive, letting me share student work and model math problems clearly, even without a traditional classroom setup.\r\nYou didn't just fund supplies. You helped us build community, belonging, and pride in an unexpected space. My students walk into the hallway each day knowing that learning can thrive anywhere. My 3rd through 6th grades used the sharpies in our Zentangle projects. We have made great use of all of the supplies provided to us. For Black History Month, 3rd-5th grade created City Collages inspired by Jacob Lawrence. We used the large construction paper for our backgrounds, and the liquid glue was very helpful! My middle schoolers are currently making Dragon Eye drawings using the excellent 9 by 12in mixed media paper. We used the sharpies for a Kinetic Piranha project that the students loved! Pre-kindergarten and kindergarten also made Heart Paintings using the mixed media paper. That paper is going a long way, and will last us until the end of the year! Fifth grade is currently creating backgrounds for their Funky Bunny Zentangle art project using that paper as well! \r\nWe also made abstract masks using the liquid glue, 1st grade Dream House paintings with the extra large mixed media paper, and Pre-k tape paintings with the 9 by 12 paper! My students were so grateful when I told them our project got funded. Some of them were in disbelief that someone was willing to donate so much. Their art skills and confidence grew with the higher quality materials, and I'm seeing great improvement in the quality of their artwork. Our next project for middle school will be a watercolor painting using the donated watercolor paper. I'm so excited to see how they come out! \r\nThank you so much for your generosity.","fullyFundedDate":1735589178734,"projectUrl":"project/whesms-art-class-supplies/8960297/","projectTitle":"WHESMS Art Class Supplies","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Neukirch","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9845176"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_64438","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":252,"numTeachers":20,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":91,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":5,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"12.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":52.2,"schoolId":64438,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Windsor Hills Elementary Middle School 87 on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Windsor Hills Elementary Middle School 87","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/maryland/baltimore-city-public-school-district/windsor-hills-elementary-school-87/64438"}
