The students have been excited from the moment the first box was delivered to our classroom. They went from wondering and predicting what the contents of the boxes were to excitement when we opened them and started our plan on how to use the contents. It was a little like Christmas in September! \r\n\r\nWe quickly made a plan on preparing the garden for the new soil, preparing the soil and laying the irrigation hoses out. The soil required hydration and the students had a blast getting \"muddy\" while preparing it. As soon as we finished preparing the beds we went ahead and planted some garlic for the upcoming spring harvest. \r\n\r\nTeaching students the importance of fresh foods, self reliance and affordable eating is important at this time in history.
