With your support I was able to add many sports-related books to my collection including ones featuring female athletes and famous athletes. Our AP Statistics and Precalculus courses both have structured time lines in order to cover all of the material prior to formal testing in the spring. \r\n\r\nBringing \"The Joy of X\" into my classroom has given me the opportunity to say to my students \"let's stop and read for 20 minutes.\" They pick up their books and silently read. We then discuss and summarize the chapter(s) for the day and then move on to regular course work. The beauty of this book is that it brings mathematical topics down to a level where everyone can see how mathematics exists in the everyday world. It shows that math isn't just a collection of formulas, but arrangements of patterns and shapes that are visible to everyone. I love seeing my students read for pleasure and voluntarily offer their thoughts on the passages. \r\n\r\nThank you for bringing this joy to my classrooms.","fullyFundedDate":1753381102985,"projectUrl":"project/the-joy-of-x-a-must-read-for-math-class/9239482/","projectTitle":"The Joy of X: A Must-Read for Math Class","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. I.","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp316895_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1468432604536","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-ivanisevic"},{"teacherId":7146397,"projectId":9327050,"letterContent":"Thanks for your donation to our classroom. Typical curriculum doesn't leave much room for projects such as this. This hands-on activity fostered critical team-building skills, as students collaborated to design and construct their bridges, learning to communicate and problem-solve together.\r\n\r\nWe know that student engagement is a factor in learning and our teachers agreed that engagement was at a maximum! Students worked in small groups planning and building their bridges. Upon completion, different classes met in the school atrium where weights wrestle placed on bridges and a competition ensued. It was exciting to hear students cheering one another on and seeing the excitement as their creations held more weight than anticipated. I also appreciated the discussion of bridge design that happened in small groups as bridges were being put through the weight test. Listening to students reflect on their work and plan for future projects was valuable to our student growth.","fullyFundedDate":1742935859900,"projectUrl":"project/building-bridges-in-math-class/9133143/","projectTitle":"Building Bridges in Math Class","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. I.","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp316895_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1468432604536","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-ivanisevic"},{"teacherId":550843,"projectId":8986121,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation that made it possible for my Spanish students to receive new reading materials. Your support has brought energy, engagement, and excitement into our classroom in ways that words can hardly express.\r\n\r\nWith these new books and reading resources, students now have access to stories and texts that are not only culturally rich but also appropriate for their language level. This has made reading in Spanish more approachable, enjoyable, and meaningful for them. It's one thing to teach a language with worksheets—it's another to see students light up as they connect with characters, explore new ideas, and experience the joy of reading in another language.\r\n\r\nThese materials have helped build both language skills and confidence. Students are now reading more frequently, asking thoughtful questions, and making personal connections to the content. For many of them, this is the first time they've been able to see themselves as readers in Spanish—and that shift is incredibly powerful.\r\n\r\nYour kindness has given my students not just books, but opportunities: to grow as learners, to deepen their appreciation for language and culture, and to see that there are people out there who care about their education.\r\n\r\nFrom the bottom of our hearts—gracias. Your support has made a meaningful difference in the daily learning experience of my students.\r\n\r\nThe grammar charts have quickly become a central part of our instruction. For many students, visual aids are essential for understanding and retaining new language concepts. These charts provide clear, accessible references for verb conjugations, sentence structures, and vocabulary rules—resources that were previously missing in our room.\r\n\r\nSince introducing the charts, I've noticed a real improvement in students' confidence and participation. When faced with grammar questions, they now have a reliable point of reference that encourages independence and reduces frustration. It's been especially helpful for visual learners and English Language Learners, who benefit greatly from being able to see the structure of the language laid out clearly.\r\n\r\nBeyond academics, your contribution has also sent a powerful message to my students: that there are people out there who care about their education and believe in their success.
