Our ninth graders begin every class with 10-15 minutes of independent reading. Students most often use this time to read high-interest, relevant young adult fiction. It's important to us to keep our classroom library stocked with books that reflect students' lived experiences, that mirror their identities, and that lift them up as valued, important members of our society. All of the titles you see below were selected by high schoolers in Project LIT chapters nationwide, so we're not choosing books we think our students will like--we're trusting other young people their age to tell us what's good these days. Give our classes access to a rich selection of immersive stories that will allow students to develop into lifelong readers. It would be a thrill to welcome them to a new school year with a full, vibrant classroom library.
