These instruments have replaced two instruments that previously broke. The rhythm sticks I had were so old that they are splintering. These new ones are so nice to have so I don't have to worry about students getting splinters. They use these to keep the beat and play rhythms to music. As for the boomwhackers, I didn't have enough for my entire classes to use. With this addition, we have enough and no one is be empty-handed. The music stands are a great addition to our class as well. I didn't have enough music stands for all students. Some students had to place their sheet music on random surfaces where they wouldn't always stay put. With these music stands, now most students have a solid stand for their sheet music. \r\nOur classroom will continue to flourish with this help. Instead of the usual frustration, they were debating the plot points of a passage to decide their next move. One student, who is often quite shy, took the lead to explain a \"clue\" to his teammates—his confidence was through the roof because the game made the challenge feel like play rather than a test. Our journey is just getting started! Now that the initial excitement has settled into a productive rhythm, here is what we are working toward. Students are using their skills to keep moving forward in reading. We have even incorporated the incentives for behavior and they love getting their prizes when they are earned.","fullyFundedDate":1768285233074,"projectUrl":"project/reading-success-for-first-grade/10010741/","projectTitle":"Reading Success for First Grade!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Dominguez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9378245_orig.jpg?crop=796,796,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1768184307635","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9378245"},{"teacherId":1554318,"projectId":6042859,"letterContent":"I did this in a time of despair during covid. My students have loved having the large boxes of markers and have taken great care of them. This will be the second school year of using them they are all in the original boxes and all of the markers still work! The students make sure the lids are on tight on markers and glue sticks and they and all other supplies are always organized.\r\n\r\nOur recent classroom project is to get binders to use as portfolios so that my students can track their own IEP goals and show their hard work within their portfolios. This helps them to be engaged in their own learning and feel success and grow in confidence as they can see the progress made from inside the portfolios.\r\n\r\nTo help print out the IEPs, documents, and paperwork for the portfolios, printer ink is needed as most of the reports are confidential and need to be printed out in a secure area.
