They are actively involved in every step of the process—meeting with community partners to understand their needs, designing logos and custom graphics, selecting appropriate materials, preparing digital files, and operating the printer to produce finished items. Seeing an idea move from a digital design on a screen to a tangible product in their hands is incredibly motivating. Even more meaningful is knowing that their work supports fundraising initiatives, athletic programs, and small local businesses. This real-world impact gives students a genuine sense of pride, responsibility, and ownership in what they create.\r\n\r\nSeveral students have especially connected with this technology, particularly those interested in sports medicine careers, entrepreneurship, athletic training, and personal training. Students who excel in hands-on learning environments have stepped into leadership roles, managing production schedules, troubleshooting equipment, ensuring quality control, and mentoring peers through the design and printing process. Others have discovered unexpected interests in graphic design, branding, marketing, and small business operations. The sublimation printer has opened doors for creativity while reinforcing technical skills, time management, collaboration, and communication. Most importantly, it has empowered students to apply their sports medicine knowledge in innovative ways while building transferable, career-ready skills that extend far beyond the classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1768170652982,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-students-through-design-for/9995421/","projectTitle":"Empowering Students Through Design: for Community & Fundraising Projects","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sab","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5848501"},{"teacherId":6120711,"projectId":10007670,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for the generous donation of markers, colored pencils, and paper, and ink for our classroom. These supplies have already made a meaningful difference in our daily learning environment. Students use them to express their ideas, illustrate their thinking, and bring creativity into lessons across all subjects. From labeling parts of speech to adding detail to and organizing notes, the markers and colored pencils are tools that support both academic growth and imagination.\r\n\r\nHaving a wide variety of colors available encourages students to take pride in their work and engage more deeply in activities. It also helps ensure that every student has access to quality materials, which promotes, confidence and participation. Your thoughtfulness and support help create a welcoming, well-equipped classroom where students feel inspired to learn and create every day. We truly appreciate your kindness and investment in our students' success.","fullyFundedDate":1768186487883,"projectUrl":"project/learning-a-second-language-in-color/10007670/","projectTitle":"Learning a second language in color!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Spendlove","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6120711"},{"teacherId":2465139,"projectId":8005563,"letterContent":"When my students first saw the new whiteboards and colorful dry erase markers, their excitement was immediate. They couldn't wait to start sketching ideas and solving problems together. The large magnetic whiteboards have quickly become a hub for collaboration in our classroom. Students gather in small groups, discussing physics and engineering challenges, mapping out solutions, and refining their thinking in real time. The ability to easily erase and rewrite has encouraged them to take intellectual risks, revise their reasoning, and communicate more effectively with one another.\r\n\r\nThe variety of dry erase markers and the addition of glue, paper, and Crayola markers have allowed my students to transform their STEM ideas into tangible models and visual explanations. They've used these materials to create labeled diagrams, prototypes, and vibrant displays that demonstrate their understanding of NGSS concepts such as energy transfer, motion, and system design.\r\n\r\nThese resources have truly elevated collaboration and creativity in our classroom. Students are not only meeting College and Career Readiness standards. They're living them through communication, teamwork, and problem-solving. Thank you for helping them build the skills and confidence that will carry them far beyond the walls of our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1699379395741,"projectUrl":"project/physics-collaboration/8005563/","projectTitle":"Physics Collaboration","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Blake","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp2465139_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1543948556053","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/corinne-blake"},{"teacherId":2465139,"projectId":5886942,"letterContent":"When my students first saw the new physics equipment, their eyes lit up. They couldn't wait to finally bring the concepts we had discussed on paper to life. The mini projectile launchers quickly became a class favorite. Students eagerly took turns setting up trials, collecting data, and debating how launch angle and velocity affected range and motion. Suddenly, Newton's second law and projectile motion weren't just formulas—they were real, measurable phenomena they could see and predict with confidence. The consistency of the data helped them make stronger claims and understand the mathematical relationships between force, mass, and acceleration.\r\n\r\nThe Hooke's Law spring setups have also transformed the way students grasp elasticity and energy transfer. During lab rotations, small groups collaborate to analyze spring constants and model relationships between force and displacement. Students who once struggled to visualize these interactions now have tangible, hands-on evidence that connects directly to both NGSS and AP Physics standards.\r\n\r\nThe specific heat demonstrator has been especially impactful for my regular and honors students. Many had difficulty understanding how thermal energy moves between systems, but seeing it happen in real time made the second law of thermodynamics click. They could finally see how energy distributes and equalizes within a closed syste: a concept that felt abstract before. These experiences have not only deepened their understanding but also reignited their curiosity and confidence in learning science through discovery. I'm deeply grateful for the donors who helped make these authentic learning opportunities possible for every student.","fullyFundedDate":1633922444669,"projectUrl":"project/physics-is-phun/5886942/","projectTitle":"Physics Is Phun","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Blake","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp2465139_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1543948556053","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/corinne-blake"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_101007","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1468,"numTeachers":64,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":25,"percentBlack":5,"percentWhite":37,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":22,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"22.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":71.6,"schoolId":101007,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about West Career & Technical Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"West Career & Technical Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/nevada/clark-county-school-district/west-career-tech-acad/101007"}
