Your generosity means my PreK students will finally have an outdoor space built for the way they learn — through movement, play, and exploration.\r\n\r\nMany of my students are working on gross motor skills, balance, and coordination, and so much of that growth happens outside the walls of a classroom. Because of you, they'll have equipment designed to strengthen those developing bodies while they climb, balance, and play alongside their classmates. For children learning to take turns, share space, and navigate the world together, a playground is so much more than recess — it's where some of our most important developmental work takes place.\r\n\r\nI wish you could see their faces on the first day they get to use it. All of the items have come in and were immediately put to great use :)\r\n-The crayons have been put into their individual crayon boxes, with the remaining in my crayon drawers for student access as they need replacements! \r\n-The markers and marker parkers are set and ready to go, as you can see in the picture. These are going to be create for ensuring kindergarteners don't lose the lids. \r\n-The adhesive label pockets were used to label cubby bins. This is where students will store their headphones, playdoh, Chromebook login cards, and more! The pockets will help the labels to last all year and not need replaced. \r\n-The magnets have been used for posters on my board and that tape is magical. It hung items on my cinderblock walls that I never have been able to successfully adhere. I went up and down the halls telling everyone about that tape! \r\n\r\nI truly don't have the words to express my gratitude for your support of my classroom and students. Your contribution helped make our first March Madness Picture Book competition possible. The books purchased with your donation were all fresh, new, and high-quality, drawing the students' attention immediately.\r\n \r\nDuring the program, I read two picture books per class time, and the students voted on their favorite book. It was fascinating to hear their discussions about the illustrations and stories in these new books. There were \"oohs\" that spontaneously erupted with certain turns of a page, and \"awws\" when something sweet happened in the storyline. It was plain to see the kids were really engaged with these new books. As the month progressed, they were excited to see which book had been the winner the week before and to explore the new book added to the competition. \r\n\r\nOverall, the March Madness program was enjoyed by all and was definitely a success! We will certainly continue this tradition as a way to introduce newly published picture books. The students here at Wakefield Elementary greatly appreciate your support, as do I.
