They loved being able to do hands on learning by building brooms and competing to see who's broom can push a candy cane across the desk the fastest, then were able to take the candy cane home. Students loved being able to use acrylic markers to draw on terracotta pots & cantaritos. Their smiles, excitement, and sense of belonging are all because of you. When the food supplies arrived, the excitement and relief on my students' faces said more than any words could capture. Many of them worry quietly about what they will eat during long school breaks, especially week-long ones where daily school meals are not available. This project lifted that worry from their shoulders, replacing it with comfort, security, and gratitude. As we packed each food bag, students kept saying thank you over and over. Some asked if they could bring food home for their siblings. What may seem like simple items felt like abundance to them. They carried their bags with pride, knowing that someone cared enough to make sure they had what they needed for their break.
