Students immediately used it as a collaborative hub for design challenges, huddling with tablets and sketch pads to prototype cardboard robots, map coding flowcharts, and test simple circuits. The rug made it easy to circulate, offer mini-lessons, and join groups without disrupting momentum.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the rug, they cheered and quickly formed teams. A quieter student surprised everyone by leading a brainstorm and sketching a winning prototype, the rug's welcoming space lowered barriers to participation and increased peer coaching.\r\n\r\nNext steps are to make the innovation station a weekly design cycle: ideation, \r\nprototyping, user testing, and reflection. We'll document each team's process in learning journals and hold a small showcase for families and donors later this term, then add reusable prototyping kits and sensors to deepen learning.","fullyFundedDate":1760628257729,"projectUrl":"project/the-innovation-station-rug/9438335/","projectTitle":"The Innovation Station Rug","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Penrod","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10066393_orig.png?crop=1173,1173,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1751130945011","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-penrod"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_105220","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":368,"numTeachers":31,"percentFrplEligible":92,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":31,"percentWhite":46,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":10,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"11.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":66.7,"schoolId":105220,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Midtown Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Midtown Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/pinellas-county-schools/university-preparatory-academy/105220"}
