We have enjoyed this book so much, and especially the moral we learned about being the best version of yourself, even when you have friends that make that difficult. \r\n\r\nWe read tge physical book along with listening to the audiobook which supports struggling readers. Then we answered critical thinking questions that helped us learn what it means to be a good friend, and how it means so much more to be good & helpful to others than to be selfish. \r\n\r\nThese materials helped students learn great lessons about their character, and the importance of being a good person to others. Reading them in a story that is really cherished by the students sets the theme in their minds where it is easily retrieved when they need it in real life.","fullyFundedDate":1723659757794,"projectUrl":"project/what-if-you-had-the-chance-to-fix-past-m/8614692/","projectTitle":"What if You Had the Chance to Fix Past Mistakes?","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Muske","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7028400_orig.png?crop=398,398,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1597163084629","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7028400"},{"teacherId":7028400,"projectId":9007252,"letterContent":"We are just finishing up our novel study of Wednesday Wars, and we are having the best time! This book takes us through the struggles of being awkward in 7th grade. We read with the purpose of understanding how people can change their opinions and become more empathetic towards the struggles of others. \r\nWe listen to the audiobook while following along in our physical books because listening & reading together provide excellent support for struggling readers. Then we answer critical thinking questions about our characters and the choices they make. We find excellent examples of how to be a good friend to others, and how to support others even when we feel hurt ourselves. \r\nOne really interesting thing about Wednesday Wars is that it is set in 1968. We get to read about Martin Luther King Jr. and Bobby Kennedy. We learn who Walter Kronkite was, and watch clips from his news broadcasts about Vietnam.\r\n\r\nWe are learning about history in a meaningful way by applying it to a character that we're rooting for as he grows up in 7th grade.\r\n\r\nThe book features two escaped classroom rats that terrorize the school. Their antics are hilarious, and to bring it to life. I have 2 plastic rats that mimic those things in our own classroom. We have students from other grades coming down to check on the rats each day to see what trouble they're causing. It revives the story again & again for students as they move up each year.\r\n\r\nThis novel study is truly a gift for students, and it makes for a very special tradition to read it each year.","fullyFundedDate":1735338033508,"projectUrl":"project/try-learning-while-being-stalked-by-shak/9007252/","projectTitle":"Try Learning While Being Stalked by Shakespeare Loving Rats!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Muske","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7028400_orig.png?crop=398,398,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1597163084629","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7028400"},{"teacherId":7057659,"projectId":9109300,"letterContent":"The first week we were able to get the students outside could not have been more powerful. I witnessed students fully engaged and concentrating on their schoolwork. Students enjoyed the sunshine, and the cooperative learning grouping at the tables. We found ourselves hurrying out to the outdoor classroom at the beginning of the period to \"ensure we were the first ones there.\" As news spread to other classrooms, other teachers in the building also learned they could utilize this wonderful space. Students enjoy doing art projects, scientific inquiry, as well as various class work. Additionally, we now have the ability through the use of the whiteboard to teach the students their lessons outdoors. \r\nWe had hoped to build a new patio to house the tables, but that may need to wait until summer 2026. When one of my administrators visited the class, he commented how engaged the students were, and he was so impressed that he wanted to help with construction of the new surface to make our outdoor classroom even better. \r\n\r\nThank you so much for your assistance in creating a place where students can enjoy STEM in the sun.","fullyFundedDate":1743515476058,"projectUrl":"project/soaking-up-the-sun-and-stem/9109300/","projectTitle":"Soaking up the Sun and STEM","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Degel","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7057659"},{"teacherId":2877549,"projectId":8923562,"letterContent":"On behalf of Twin Bridges Middle School, we would like to extend our sincere appreciation for your donation to our school. We have so far used the MagLev track for one of the two projects I have planned. \r\n\r\nWe first used the Maglev track as an instant challenge problem for my engineering class. Students needed to create a floating cart using opposing magnets on a foam board. This replicated a real-life Maglev train as usually seen in Japan and China. They struggled with this project because they needed to make detailed measurements to make sure the foam board was exactly the width of the track. We(I) enjoyed watching them work through a true scientific inquiry. \r\n\r\nThe second project I have planned is for my physics class. We will repeat the above challenge but add some computational math to the problem. We will be able to calculate our acceleration, the forces that act on the cart, as well as the required voltage to power the track. We will complete this project when we cover electricity in a couple of weeks. \r\n\r\nThank you so much for your help in our public schools,","fullyFundedDate":1726601485301,"projectUrl":"project/maglev-mathematics-and-engineering/8792774/","projectTitle":"Maglev Mathematics and Engineering","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Hoffman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9709002"},{"teacherId":2919489,"projectId":8720325,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous contribution.
