We did an abstract cactus garden study and used various sizes cardboard boxes. The boxes were painted white and the students chose stencils. They used the sharpies to trace the designs onto the boxes. The students painted different colors all over the boxes.\r\n\r\nWe took liquid nails and we figured out how to attach the boxes and build them up sculpture style. The students took pieces of paper and formed the paper into cones. The cones were painted yellow and used the liquid nails to attach the cones to the boxes. This was to create spikes for the cacti. We made a display for reading America night. The cactus books were placed next to the boxes.\r\n\r\nOnce the reading across America night was complete, we moved the boxes to the front office for a second showing. I have had several parents tell me they loved the projects. The students were very proud of their project. The principal took a video documentary of it to share with other schools.
