We recently finished reading Because of Mr. Terupt, and my students absolutely loved it. What began as a read-aloud has become something much bigger: a shared experience that brought our classroom together. As we read, students practiced important reading skills such as finding evidence in the text, describing characters and how they change, identifying themes, discussing point of view, and supporting their ideas with details from the story. Just as importantly, the book gave us opportunities to talk about empathy, friendship, forgiveness, making mistakes, and learning to understand people who may see the world differently. By the end of the book, students were asking, \"Do we get to read the next one?\" They are now interested in reading the other Mr. Terupt books, which is exactly the kind of excitement about books I hope to create in my classroom.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving my students the opportunity to experience a book together and discover how powerful a story can be. Your donation did more than put books in our hands—it gave us a shared story, meaningful conversations, new reading skills, and memories we will carry with us throughout the school year. From the first day I laid it out, students were excited about how soft and comfortable it was, and it immediately helped create a more welcoming learning environment.\r\n\r\nThe large, brightly colored squares have become an essential organizational tool. They help students follow our daily seating chart, define personal space, and allow us to quickly form circles for group instruction. Students also use the squares for independent work, partner activities, and small group collaboration. We have even used the colored rows to help organize formations for folk dances and movement activities during music lessons.\r\n\r\nThis carpet is used every day and has become a major part of our classroom routines and procedures. I am incredibly grateful for your support of me, my students, and music education.
