Using the donated materials, students collaborated to design and build model cities while applying key 4th grade standards, including calculating area and perimeter and identifying right angles.\r\nThe use of manipulatives significantly increased engagement and understanding. Students were able to move from abstract concepts to concrete application, strengthening both accuracy and confidence. Additionally, the activity supported gifted standards by promoting problem-solving, collaboration, and student-led discussion.\r\nStudent feedback reflected the impact: \"I understand perimeter better because I can see the edges,\" and \"We had to think and work together to figure everything out.\"\r\nOverall, these materials enhanced both academic achievement and student motivation, allowing learners to explore math in a meaningful, creative, and collaborative way.\r\nThank you for making this level of learning possible for my students.","fullyFundedDate":1769696018283,"projectUrl":"project/the-art-of-learning-inspiring-creativit/9861176/","projectTitle":"The Art of Learning: Inspiring Creativity in Every Subject","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Honig","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10333945_orig.jpg?crop=825,825,x42,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1776451577903","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10333945"},{"teacherId":10086068,"projectId":10039159,"letterContent":"The resources provided to my students through Donors choose had a meaningful impact on my students with varying exceptionalities, including those with autism and attention challenges. For example, I was able to make some bags with cards and a squishy toy for comfort, for some students having real challenges with social awareness, classroom expectations and routines. \r\n\r\nThese items allowed students with sensory needs to re-engage, reduce anxiety and stay focused during instruction. Students who previously struggled with sitting still or maintaining attention were able to engage more consistently in lessons and complete tasks with greater independence.\r\n\r\nThe social emotional game is a big hit with my students as it allows them time to.process real life school and at home choices. They love playing and ask to play all the time. I love when their face lights up when the make a good choice match.\r\n\r\nLastly, we print so many worksheets, the shredder has helped keep or environment free of unnecessary papers and clutter, which ca overload a student with anxiety ad sensory issues. One of the most impactful additions has been our new calm down corner, which gives students a quiet, safe space to manage their emotions and refocus. It has helped create a more positive classroom environment where students feel supported and ready to learn. We've also been using the recording buttons to help students listen to directions and practice independence during centers. These tools have made transitions smoother and have empowered students to take more ownership of their learning.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials, they were thrilled! Many of them immediately wanted to try the calm down corner and explore the recording buttons. Their excitement quickly turned into curiosity and responsibility as they learned how to use these tools appropriately. It's been amazing to see how much pride they take in caring for the materials and using them to help themselves and their classmates.\r\n\r\nNext, we'll continue building on these routines by incorporating the resources into more daily lessons and activities. Students will use the recording buttons during literacy and math centers to guide them step-by-step through tasks, and the calm down corner will remain a key part of our classroom community. These new tools have already made such a difference in helping students grow emotionally and academically.","fullyFundedDate":1751390264927,"projectUrl":"project/make-our-wildest-dreams-come-true-in-kin/9401742/","projectTitle":"Make our WILDest Dreams Come True in Kindergarten!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Schreiber","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7838678_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1749602188446","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7838678"},{"teacherId":1457210,"projectId":9443814,"letterContent":"After spending time away from the classroom, I am so excited to be back doing what I love most-teaching and supporting my students each day. Returning has reminded me how important it is to create a warm, encouraging, and well-equipped learning environment where every child feels motivated and capable of success.\r\n\r\nThis project helped provide the tools and resources my students needed to thrive. With your support, our classroom received:\r\n\r\nIncentives and rewards: a treasure box filled with prizes, small treats, and Lucky Ducks to encourage positive behavior and build a classroom culture of kindness, effort and responsibility.\r\n\r\nSupplies for success: Privacy folders, student folders, pencil sharpeners, and other everyday essentials to keep our learning organized and smooth.\r\n\r\nEngaging materials: Grade-level readers to grow a love of reading, and bulletin board items to make our classroom environment inspiring and welcoming.\r\n\r\nYour generosity created a classroom where students feel celebrated for their hard work, supported in their growth, and excited to learn every day. The impact of the donation will ripple far beyond this school year, as students gain confidence, develop good habits, and build a lifelong love of learning.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping me give my students the tools and encouragement they deserve.
