By funding my project, you will provide my students with the opportunity to explore the world of coding. My students participated in the Hour of Code in both 2nd and 3rd grade. They were consumed with excitement and showed engagement in the learning process that was simply remarkable. Robotics and coding will add an element to our classroom that my students would not otherwise have the opportunity to experience. Having a real life hands-on experience with robots and coding will open up an entirely new and exciting aspect of coding/problem-solving for my students. Not only will we use this Ozobot Bit Classroom Kit to learn to code, but we plan to use it to reinforce our geometry and measurement skills in mathematics. As we explore polygons and perimeter in Geometry, students will use their Ozobots to code different shaped tracks and measure the perimeter of the different polygons. Coding will not only teach my students problem-solving skills, but will prepare them for the future. Problem solving skills are essential in order for students to become active learners. With coding, students create and move through a systematic plan that allows the students to develop the confidence required to foster the creativity that is necessary for thinking outside of the box. This is an essential tool in the learning process. Thank you!
