The Guided Reading Collections will be used during guided reading in the classroom. I will be able to use these books to teach skills and a love of reading through fiction and nonfiction texts that are high interest. The students will also be able to reread these books to help develop fluency during independent and buddy reading times. The Easy Reader Biographies will also be used for struggling readers during guided reading. Many times, struggling readers do not have as many options when reading nonfiction. These biographies will give students higher interest books on a slightly lower level. This project will help my students develop a love for books and reading. With text that is high interest and on the appropriate reading level, students will want to read more; therefore, becoming lifelong readers.
