The students have loved having this years SLAM books in our classroom because they are often the checked out from our school library by our Tinker readers in grades 3-5. I have had many students already read and complete 6 of the 15 books. They read them both in class and as homework. After they finish reading the books they have a ten question quiz on what the book was about. The students earn a brag tag with the book title on it and get to put a sticker on their name under the title of the book. Many students also love that there are multiple copies so they can read together with partners from our class. Students have completed almost all of the SLAM books for this school year and have taken quizzes to check from understanding. As the students complete the quiz for a SLAM book they get a brag tag and chain with the book title on it. Our class has enjoyed not having to rush to the library to see if SLAM books are available because we have them right in our classroom.
