The umbrellas allow us to extend our classroom outdoors, giving students a shaded and inspiring environment for storytelling, drawing, painting, visual arts projects, music, and creative performances.\r\n\r\nOne specific classroom moment was seeing students gather under the umbrellas for an outdoor music activity. Instead of being limited to an indoor classroom, students were able to spread out, talk/sing with one another, dance, play instruments, and express their creativity. The shaded space helped students stay comfortable and focused while engaging together through music and dance. \r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the new umbrellas, they were excited to have a colorful and welcoming space where they could learn, play, and create outside. They immediately recognized that the outdoor area could become another classroom and were eager to use it for art, music, and group activities.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue using this space for ongoing music and arts projects. Students will participate in drawing and painting activities, storytelling, group discussions, and creative performances. They will also have opportunities to collaborate with their classmates and explore how nature can inspire their artistic expression.
