Encouraging motivation and engagement in the classroom is highly correlated to higher academic performance. These 6 portable lap desks and 6 soft seats will serve as portable workstations for my students to write creatively in journals, read decodable texts, and solve math problems with manipulatives. These portable workstations will motivate my students to discover places in the classroom that best suit their learning needs and promote decision-making by providing a flexible seating choice. Sitting on hard metal chairs for lengths at a time is uncomfortable and doesn’t give my kindergartners much choice for movement, which is a crucial part of their learning process. Having these alternative 6 portable lap desks and 6 soft beans seats will increase focus, create excitement in the classroom, and empower my students to choose a more comfortable seating option while working independently. I am excited for this opportunity of having these flexible seating options for my kindergartners. It will foster creativity, movement, and versatility. I know this open seating choice will be a positive impact on my students' learning. Help me promote a more student-centered classroom with these lap desks and soft bean seats. By allowing my students a seating choice, they will not only feel welcomed and valued, but also free to problem solve and collaborate with others, a necessary skill for the 21st century.
