I have been able to print so many colorful resources to enhance my teaching and engage my students! It has been so nice to have a printer in our classroom for quick printing instead of competing for the printer in the work room. I love that it has allowed me to print a single copy of something, and then prepare it for aides and others to help make class sets of copies. \r\n\r\nThis printer also has the ability to scan documents. This has been extremely helpful to scan samples of student work and prepare an electronic file instead of keeping their work or copying it before sending it home, if needed. \r\n\r\nI am so grateful for your generosity and willingness to support my classroom and my students in such a colorful and impactful way!","fullyFundedDate":1755699167501,"projectUrl":"project/teaching-in-color/9500167/","projectTitle":"Teaching in Color","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Laird","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6456130_orig.jpg?crop=461,461,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1558207234851","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6456130"},{"teacherId":3772699,"projectId":9312957,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your donation of an iPad stand and privacy folders. By using the iPad stand, every child in my classroom is able to see the necessary items that we are working on. I use it quite a bit as I am modeling how to do an assignment. This has come in especially useful as we have begun to learn a new method of teaching writing. \r\n\r\nThe privacy folders have been so beneficial. I love that my students are able to sit at tables. It only becomes problematic when I am assessing their knowledge. By using the privacy folders, I get a better idea as to how my students are doing. We love to support our students' independent reading with something we call \"Book Chats.\" Book Chats are very similar to book clubs in the real world. Students are grouped together by reading and interest level and meet once a week with a trained parent volunteer to discuss the book they are all simultaneously reading independently. With this positive peer/parent pressure students end up reading about one book every 2 weeks! The most common problem I see with students' independent reading in 4th grade is that students chronically abandon books a few pages into them. With \"Book Chats,\" this isn't an issue because they get comprehension support throughout as well as the expectation that everyone in their group is excited and anticipating a discussion half way through and again at the end of the book.\r\n\r\nSomething special this year was your donation that funded new sets of books that are our school's \"Book Battle\" books for the year. Book Battles is a whole school program headed by our school librarian. Students are encouraged to read all or many of the books on the \"Book Battle\" list for their grade level. Then, those students, compete in teams to answer questions about those books in an after school club. Many more students in our grade level are participating than ever before because we were able to purchase sets of these titles. In this way, students are getting to participate in \"Book Chats\" AND \"Book Battles.\" Two birds with one stone! It is November and I already have 2 students who have nearly read every Book Battle Book! \r\n\r\nIt is truly exciting to watch reading catch on with my students! The human body model immediately drew them in. They loved being able to see and touch the different organs as we learned about how our bodies work. It made everything we had read in our CKLA lessons feel real. The ancient Egypt figurines have also been such a fun addition. My students were fascinated as we talked about pharaohs, pyramids, and the sphinx. Being able to hold and observe the figures while we learned helped them make stronger connections to the stories and history we were exploring.\r\n\r\nWe've only just begun using some of the materials, but I can already see how much more engaged and curious my students are. These hands-on tools help them visualize and truly understand what we're learning. I'm so excited to continue our Knowledge unit with the other materials we've received. I know they'll make topics like space and animal habitats come alive for my students in the same way.\r\n\r\nThank you for making this possible. Your generosity has helped turn our classroom into a place of wonder and discovery. My students are asking thoughtful questions, sharing new ideas, and making learning connections that will last.
