My students include those that are having difficulty with decoding words, reading fluently, and/or comprehension. Many of my students are two or more years below grade level in reading. \r\n\r\nIt can be difficult to find \"good fit\" books for these students, as they have middle school interests, but with a lower reading level. I work to make as many high interest, lower readability books available to them as possible. Having these books in my classroom makes it much easier for them to choose books to read and enjoy.\r\n\r\nWe all know that the more you read, the better a reader you become. Along with providing direct instruction of reading interventions, I want kids to be able to enjoy books. When they are successful finishing a book that they enjoyed and understood, they are much more likely to grab another book and try it again.
