School has only been in session for a month and I have already been able to provide students the art of journaling. When I show the students the materials, they get a big smile on their face and seem eager to sit down to start. Individually and in small groups, we have discussed ways to journal and why journaling can help with daily coping and managing stress or anxiety. \r\n\r\nThe students are also learning vocabulary words such as resilience, reflection, brain dumping, and locus of control. With one group of girls learning how to manage their anger, we have reviewed how they can reflect on their decisions and use this tool to teach themselves how to stay in better control. They all have enjoyed decorating their small journals. While they adorn their books, it gives them a relaxed environment to share feelings, issues, and have in-depth conversations. Middle school students, girls in particularly, will benefit by learning the skill of using a journal. This project has opened a hands-on approach to managing emotions while working directly with the students and I am grateful to be able to share this with them.","fullyFundedDate":1749427998273,"projectUrl":"project/i-amwho-i-choose/9107864/","projectTitle":"I am...who I choose.","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Gibbs","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9589122_orig.jpg?crop=2208,2208,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1720713124464","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9589122"},{"teacherId":9683523,"projectId":9128472,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your support.
