We recently used the supplies in a mixed-media \"Dream Wings\" project, where students designed large-scale wings that visually represented their goals, interests, and personal strengths. The variety of textures, colors, and adaptive tools ensured that every learner—including my neurologically diverse students—could engage meaningfully and express themselves with confidence.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the excitement was immediate and heartfelt. Students gathered around as we unpacked everything, their eyes wide with curiosity. Hands-on learning experiences are sparking curiosity in our students. They are able to examine objects up close, especially the insects, with the magnifying glasses. Students have identified parts of the insects and counted all six legs. \r\nSafety first is a must when working with students and the safety glasses allowed students safely to create a chemical reaction and watch as the \"lava lamp\" bubbled.\r\nMake and take is enjoyable for everyone, however our students were super excited to learn that they will be able to keep the project they create. Their eyes lit up, and one student exclaimed, \"We get to build like real artists and engineers!\" That sense of confidence and curiosity has filled our classroom ever since.\r\n\r\nWe've been using the ChompSaw to explore design thinking and sculpture. Students have planned and built small wooden reliefs inspired by nature and architecture, learning how to measure, cut, and assemble pieces with care and teamwork. The novel illustrated the concept of rationing, shortages, and the importance of resilience and kindness during tough times.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, the story encouraged empathy and deeper thinking about how historical events affect ordinary people, not just soldiers on the front lines.
