The new materials have allowed my Kindergarten through 6th-grade artists to experiment with media that many of them had never experienced before. We recently used the supplies in a mixed-media \"Dream Wings\" project, where students designed large-scale wings that visually represented their goals, interests, and personal strengths. The variety of textures, colors, and adaptive tools ensured that every learner—including my neurologically diverse students—could engage meaningfully and express themselves with confidence.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the excitement was immediate and heartfelt. Students gathered around as we unpacked everything, their eyes wide with curiosity. Several students who are typically hesitant to try new activities were the first to ask, \"When can we use this?\" One of my younger artists, who often struggles with fine motor tasks, proudly completed intricate layered details using the new tools and told me, \"This feels like real artist stuff.\" Moments like that remind me that access matters—not just for creativity, but for self-belief.","fullyFundedDate":1765389299155,"projectUrl":"project/let-our-dreams-soar-inspiring-young-ar/9799247/","projectTitle":"Let Our Dreams Soar — Inspiring Young Artists Through Imagination","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Tinjum","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6892109_orig.jpg?crop=3133,3133,x104,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1696278896080","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6892109"},{"teacherId":7605100,"projectId":9690229,"letterContent":"Our library is STEM-tastic thanks to you! Your support has made a meaningful and immediate difference in the learning experiences of my students.\r\n\r\nNearpod has transformed the way my 5th graders engage with lessons, especially those who are several grade levels behind or receive special education and dyslexia services. With interactive lessons, real-time checks for understanding, and accessible learning tools, Nearpod allows every student to participate at their level and feel successful. The platform lets me embed visuals, models, read-alouds, and guided practice into every lesson, which helps my students build confidence while strengthening their reading fluency and comprehension.\r\n\r\nFor my small-group instruction and intervention time, Nearpod has been especially powerful. I am able to monitor progress instantly, give immediate feedback, and tailor instruction based on what students need in that moment. Students who often struggle to stay engaged are now more motivated because the lessons feel interactive and personalized. This has led to noticeable improvement in their participation, accuracy, and overall understanding.\r\n\r\nYour donation has not only provided a digital tool—it has opened the door for my students to access learning in ways that meet their needs, honor their strengths, and support their growth. Their eyes lit up, and one student exclaimed, \"We get to build like real artists and engineers!\" That sense of confidence and curiosity has filled our classroom ever since.\r\n\r\nWe've been using the ChompSaw to explore design thinking and sculpture. Students have planned and built small wooden reliefs inspired by nature and architecture, learning how to measure, cut, and assemble pieces with care and teamwork. It's been amazing to see how this tool bridges art and STEM — helping students understand how creativity and precision go hand in hand.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to create a collaborative installation for our hallway, featuring student-designed wooden shapes painted and arranged into a large \"Creativity Garden.\" This project will not only showcase their craftsmanship but also celebrate how tools like the ChompSaw empower young makers to dream big and build boldly.","fullyFundedDate":1757507358462,"projectUrl":"project/cutting-into-creativity-a-chompsaw-for/9672957/","projectTitle":"Cutting Into Creativity: A ChompSaw for Young Makers","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Tinjum","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6892109_orig.jpg?crop=3133,3133,x104,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1696278896080","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6892109"},{"teacherId":7597917,"projectId":9142272,"letterContent":"We truly enjoyed reading about Ada's experiences during the war while navigating her disability and her feelings of abandonment.\r\n\r\nThe story The War That Saved My Life had a significant impact on 5th grade students by helping them understand the human side of World War II, particularly the experiences of civilians in England. Through the eyes of the main character, Ada, students learned how the war disrupted everyday life and forced many people—especially children—to adapt to new and often difficult circumstances.\r\n\r\nThey saw how families were separated during the evacuations, how communities came together to support one another, and how individuals had to make do with limited resources. The novel illustrated the concept of rationing, shortages, and the importance of resilience and kindness during tough times.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, the story encouraged empathy and deeper thinking about how historical events affect ordinary people, not just soldiers on the front lines. It helped students connect emotionally to the past while also fostering discussions about courage, perseverance, and personal growth in the face of hardship.","fullyFundedDate":1741317187926,"projectUrl":"project/resilient-voices/9142272/","projectTitle":"Resilient Voices","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kang","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7597917_orig.jpg?crop=2727,2728,x0,y236&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1728514772736","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7597917"},{"teacherId":7597917,"projectId":9059537,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donations. The novels purchased all featured strong female protagonists. These stories had a powerful impact on 5th grade students by providing them with relatable and inspiring role models. These stories showcased girls who demonstrated courage, resilience, intelligence, and independence—traits that resonated with students and encouraged them to think about their own strengths and potential.\r\n\r\nFor many students, especially girls, these protagonists helped build confidence and self-esteem by showing that girls can be leaders, problem-solvers, and change-makers. Boys also benefited from seeing diverse perspectives and gaining a greater appreciation for the challenges and triumphs faced by their female peers.\r\n\r\nThese novels sparked meaningful classroom discussions about fairness, equality, and perseverance, and they promoted empathy by allowing students to experience life through the eyes of characters who faced and overcame significant obstacles.
