The students have loved using the awesome new items we received. It was perfect content to implement into my small group lesson plans! \r\n\r\nThe students were so happy to see all the things we got. They loved reading the stories and playing different social skill games. We were able to use the books, stickers, and activities to learn about kindness, empathy, friendship, and managing our emotions! It was not only great for small groups, but I was able to use some of these items in whole-classroom lessons. \r\n\r\nWe are so grateful to be given these items to help benefit the learning of our students. I had so much fun watching them learn and grow. I can't wait to continue using them in future groups and future class lessons!\r\n\r\nThank you so much!","fullyFundedDate":1768343507198,"projectUrl":"project/strengthening-sel-small-groups/10002497/","projectTitle":"Strengthening SEL Small Groups","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Nikki","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10400625"},{"teacherId":7963486,"projectId":10039960,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our classroom through Donors Choose. Because of your kindness, our students now have access to flexible seating, as well as a human skeleton model and internal organ model that have truly transformed our learning environment.\r\nThe flexible seating options have made a tremendous impact on our students' focus, comfort, and engagement. Being able to choose where and how they sit has given them a sense of ownership over their learning. Students who once struggled to stay attentive are now more focused, productive, and excited to participate each day.\r\nIn addition, the human skeleton and internal organ models have brought our science lessons to life in ways that textbooks simply cannot. Our students are able to explore and interact with these models, making deeper connections and gaining a better understanding of how the human body works. Their curiosity has grown, and they are asking thoughtful questions, engaging in discussions, and truly experiencing science in a hands-on way.\r\nYour generosity has not only provided materials, but it has also inspired confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning in our classroom. We are incredibly grateful for your support and the lasting impact it has made on our students.","fullyFundedDate":1768769309235,"projectUrl":"project/flexible-seating-for-station-rotation/10039960/","projectTitle":"Flexible Seating for Station Rotation","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Cahoon","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7963486"},{"teacherId":10398544,"projectId":9988977,"letterContent":"My students are using the new resources in so many meaningful ways that have truly helped make our classroom a more inclusive, calm, and happy place to learn. The small stuffed animals have quickly become our classroom pets and are used during independent work time. Students are motivated to listen and follow expectations because they know that students who are on task get to choose a pet first, which has made a positive impact on behavior. The bean bag chair is a favorite reward—our Star Student of the Week gets to trade their regular chair for the bean bag, which makes the recognition extra special. The classroom bench has been one of our most-used items because it stores our manipulatives and doubles as seating during small-group activities. The whiteboards are perfect for games, reviews, and quick checks for understanding, and the large whiteboard easel is used daily during both whole-group and small-group instruction. The headphones are especially important, as they are used every day by students who are unable to afford their own or replace broken ones.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials and were able to use them, their reactions were priceless. They were beyond excited and could not stop smiling. The biggest reactions were to the desk pets and headphones—it felt to them like hundreds of dollars had been spent just for them. Many students kept saying, \"Thank you for making our classroom a better place,\" which truly showed how much these resources mean to them.\r\n\r\nIn the coming weeks, we will continue to use these materials to support learning and engagement. Our classroom pets will be \"writing\" letters to students and to each other as a fun way to prepare for upcoming diagnostic testing. Students will write encouraging notes and practice writing skills while building confidence and excitement for testing. The headphones were already heavily used during our Black History Month research project and will continue to support independent learning moving forward. Because of your generosity, my students feel supported, excited, and ready to learn every single day. Thank you for helping create such a positive classroom environment.","fullyFundedDate":1768052588219,"projectUrl":"project/creating-a-calm-engaging-classroom/9988977/","projectTitle":"Creating a Calm, Engaging Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Smith","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10398544"},{"teacherId":7695708,"projectId":9988781,"letterContent":"We are using the new resources during Junk Journal Club and classroom creative time, where students create personalized journal spreads using a variety of materials. One memorable moment was watching students eagerly plan their pages, share ideas with peers, and proudly explain the meaning behind their designs, many saying it was their favorite part of the week.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, their reactions were immediate excitement and curiosity. They were amazed by the variety of supplies and couldn't wait to dive in, especially students who had never had access to these kinds of creative materials before.\r\n\r\nNext, students will continue building their journals through open-ended spreads connected to reflection, character exploration, and storytelling. They will use the materials to deepen their creativity, strengthen their voice, and further develop confidence as they share their work and reflect on their learning.","fullyFundedDate":1768054428376,"projectUrl":"project/junk-journal-club/9988781/","projectTitle":"Junk Journal Club","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Martinez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7695708_orig.png?crop=588,588,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1615419687541","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrsmartinez44"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_103159","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":764,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":45,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":29,"percentWhite":14,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":36,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":46.0,"schoolId":103159,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Somerset Academy - North Las Vegas on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Somerset Academy - North Las Vegas","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/nevada/nevada-department-of-education/somerset-academy-n-las-vegas/103159"}
