I am committed to being the most effective teacher I can be for children who live in low-income communities and I am continuously searching for resources and implementing strategies that engage my students. While the focus of this project is increasing math skills and incorporating technology, I am part of a departmentalized team that works together to strengthen instruction in language arts, writing, and science. This project will bring three 7" Samsung Galaxy tablets and Multi Purpose Stools for flexible seating to my 4th grade classroom, offering children the opportunity to learn in a setting that contains adequate technology and seating that allows students to find comfortable positions throughout the classroom. The devices will be used for daily Mathematics instruction such as tests, games, assignments, and homework. Consistent access to these devices will enable my students to become familiar with technology and the internet. Flexible seating will encourage students to make decisions that benefit their individual learning styles the most. These stools will allow students the ability to move, collaborate, communicate with their peers, and develop critical thinking skills in the learning environment. We will be using the stools small group setting. Comfortable students are calm, focused, and productive.
